Basic Life Splinter (Understanding Beta & Untamed)

Introduction

Hello welcome to Ace's Life starting guide!
In total honesty, I do not enjoy playing this Splinter nor the Death one as a beginner as I feel that they are pretty lacking but some of you will need some tips in order to complete your Daily Quests

You should think of this splinter as one that provides more buffs to the team.

I am planning to make a blog for each splinter in order to help everyone, this is just a part of it!

The Summoners

image.png

  • Tyrus Paladium: This is usually the phantom summoner I play if level isn't an issue as a the +1 Armour can soak up the excess damage from range and melee.

  • Mother Khala: This Summoner is one I would use as it is cheaper to level and the +1 Health would do a lot of good if you have a "Tank Heal" Monster (Heals 1/3 of the Tank's health, minimum 2).

The Monsters

1. Tanks

  • Shieldbearer: The one and only phantom card that has the "Taunt" ability (All enemy will target this monster if they can attack), this is one of the most overall Tankiest phantom card you can play with. 8 Mana
  • Silvershield Paladin: Fairly decent, would use him when there aren't many mana to play with as compared to the Shieldbearer. With his "Shield ability (50% less damage from melee and range), he can take a considerable amount of hits except for magic as he doesn't have that much health. 5 Mana

2. Key Players

  • Cave Slug: With 2 melee attack and "Opportunity" (Targets the opposing monster with the lowest health), this card is pretty strong especially for the "Reverse-Speed" Rule-set as he only has 1 speed. 5 Mana
  • Peacebringer: A very basic card but with good stats so you should definitely play him. Most phantom cards do not have the stats he bring to the table for that mana price (2 range attack, 4 Health and 3 Speed). 4 mana
  • Lone Boatman: A very durable range "snipe" (Strikes the first monster who has range or magic atk) monster with 2 attack. You'll definitely need him to help strike the back-row of your opponent's team. You can think of this card as an upgrade of Peacebringer for the "Snipe" Ability. (Note this for your Daily Missions).5 mana
  • Luminous Eagle: Can be used as a secondary tank as even though it is a melee monster, it has "Reach" (Can attack from the Second row). This card is pretty good for a starter card with its 2 attack, 5 health and 3 speed to combo with its "Flying" (+25% evasion rate) ability, making him very hard to hit. 6 Mana

3. Buffer

  • Silvershield Knight: I would not call him a Tank but he should be played in that position if you plan to blitz through your enemies with melee attacks as he has "Inspire" (Increases all allies' Melee attack stat by 1). 5 Mana
  • Truthspeaker: This is a very unique card as it has a very rare ability which is "Protect" (Grants every allied monsters +2 Armour). Although this card will always be targeted by "Opportunity", it is sure able to survive at least one hit thanks to its own ability. 3 mana
  • Divine healer: This is just another Crustacean King, serving the same purpose with its Tank Heal (Heals 1/3 of the first row monster, at least 2 health). 3 Mana

Upgrading Your Deck

Here I am going to recommend you different cards you should rent / buy depending on your budget!
I'll split them into 2 categories like Essentials & To Consider

image.png

1. Essentials

  • Lorna Shine: My always go to summoner when I have / want to play the Light Splinter. Reason being that it is a 1 up of the Tyrus Paladium by giving each monster she summons the "Divine Shield" Ability (The first attack to hit the monster with this ability will deal 0 damage). This would mean that the monster she summons will not be affected by the first magic or "Pierce" (Excess damage from the armour will be reflected to Health) damage unlike with Armour. 3 Mana
  • Light Elemental: The reason why you should get this card is because this splinter really lacks monsters that can attack from the front AND the back position. With its 2 magic attack, it is a very strong contender for lower leagues even though it has 2 health which makes it vulnerable to "Opportunity", it covers that aspect slightly with its 3 speed and "Flying". 4 Mana
  • Hero of Beyond: As I have stated above, this splinter does not have much monsters that can strike front both the front and back row but this card can with "Close Range" (Range based monsters can strike from the first position). You can put him in higher positions to soak "Snipes" with his high health and 1 Armour 7 Mana
  • Silvershield Sheriff: A card with impressive range DPS, his high health makes him very usable at the backrow to block "Sneak" monsters while having "Snipe" and decent to pick off the opposing back-rows. However, it is as expensive as Sandworm so play him only if you can afford it. 9 Mana
  • Silvershield Assassin: One of my favourite cards to play along with Silvershield Knight mainly due to their high speed to Blitz your opponent. This card is quite the beast as not only does he strikes the back with "Sneak" but it also has "Double Strike" (Literally hits twice per round). (Note this for your Daily Missions) *7 Mana
  • Temple Priest: A nice cheap addition for your Life team as it is the most affordable magic monster you can get right now. 5 Mana

2. To Consider

  • Kralus: Ever dread on "Toxic Fumes" and "Earthquake" Rule-sets? Or even BOTH in one game? Well good news is that this card has "Immunity" (Immune to all negative effects) for poison and "Flying" for Earthquake while having both Magic & Melee attack he can strike twice on the first position. The bad news is that it is Expensive (In terms of money and mana). 12 Mana
  • Bila the Radiant: Love to play this slightly at the back just slightly protecting my weakest card while building her health thanks to "Life Leech" (Gains health proportionate to the damage dealt). If you play it in the "Explosive Weaponry" Rule-set, this card would gain so much health and the hardest card to put down. 8 Mana
  • Evangelist: What do we all hate the most in the battles? For me it is to see my attacks MISS. Well, this card will never miss those with "Flying" unless they have been lured / landed plus its 3 damage is nothing to laugh at. 6 Mana
  • Lunakari Mistress: Only if you feel like you do not have enough Magic in your deck. You can consider this card although it is very unlikely her ability "Opress" (Does double damage to an enemy that has no attack) will Proc / activate unless you're playing in "Keep Your Distance" Rule-set 6 Mana
Basic Lane-Ups Examples

|| Remember that Furious Chicken and Creeping Ooze are generally are must have in your deck. ||
These are just some line-ups I think are most effective, you should play it according to your mana cap, if my line up is too expensive, you should consider removing certain rows from the middle / back according to your own preference (playstyle)
