Hello Hive

Direct from queenpriscillla's blog, I bring to you all another edition of the weekly Battle Mage Secrets Challenge. According to the selection made, the ruleset "Equal Opportunity" made the theme of this week's challenge. The link to the announcement post is provided here to guide those who may wish to participate in this weekly challenge. Now, sit back while I explain the strategy behind this day-presented battle which will be done immediately after I finish explaining what the ruleset Equal Opportunity is all about.

The Ruleset: Equal Opportunity

Understanding the equal opportunity ruleset has to do with one understanding of the opportunity ability because the ruleset simply implies that all monster on the battlefield gains the opportunity ability. What is the Opportunity ability? The opportunity ability has a symbolic identification of an eye image given below.

Monsters with the opportunity ability attack the weakest link or say, the weakest monster on the opponent's team. Opportunity ability monsters, however, can still be distracted with the taunt ability. Monsters with extremely low health are not suitable for equal opportunity battles because they make easy targets and can even get eliminated before it gets to their turn. Monsters with the bloodlust ability most times perform better battling under this ruleset as each monster they eliminated causes a general increase in their stat. This is exactly the strategy on which the presented battle relies.

Strategic Team selection and Positioning

Let's take a look at what was done right in the team selection that led to the victory starting from the summoner's selection. Also, do know that the team was selected putting the two given ruleset into due consideration.

QUIX THE DEVIOUS

First, looking at the mana cap for the battle, it isn't that big to accommodate some great monsters with high mana costs, however, the mana cap had to be managed perfectly starting with a low mana cost summoner. The selected summoner offered two stats to the game which were the decrease in speed and ranged weapon of the enemy's monsters. The dragon summoner gave a broader option for selecting the team which comprises both dragon monsters and life element monsters

VRUZ

It looks strange using Vruz as a defender in a battle but trust me there's always a reason for everything. There's just one reason why this monster made that position and the reason is its martyr ability. Notice there is a bloodlust ability monster directly behind it and that monster is just waiting for its death to gain an increase in its stat. Vruz has one melee weapon but with the opponent defender having shield ability, the one melee weapon was useless.

JARED SCAR

This monster played the major role while others were there to support it. It battled with four abilities namely, Bloodlust, which helps with stat increase when its target is eliminated. The second is true strike ability which means it can't miss any of its targets. The third is Piercing, which helps it to cut through the enemy's armor and damage their health if the weapon is high enough for such. Last is the Opportunity ability which it got from the ruleset. Eliminating the enemy's monsters and increasing its stat was its major use for this battle.

ADELADE BRIGHTWING

Although I called every other monster supporting, Brightwing was as important as Scar. Although it had the disadvantage of speed, its five abilities are such an important one. With flying ability, there are higher chances that melee and ranged monsters will miss when targeting it. The Repair ability was there to repair a portion of the damaged armor of the team. Resurrect ability can't miss the opportunity to resurrect the first monster to be eliminated on its team. This action was targeted on the martyr monster but it turned out that the last monster was the first to be eliminated. Immune ability makes it immune to negative effects while the opportunity ability attacks the weakest opponent monster.

CELESTIAL HARPY

Harpy is also a flying monster and has the same effect on melee and ranged monsters as every other flying monster. At the level of use in this battle, this monster has the true strike ability which means it can't miss its target under any circumstance. Originally, aside from the ruleset, it has the opportunity ability
