My love and hate relationship with Splinterlands

As a player who has been actively participating in Splinterlands for about a year, I have come to both love and hate certain aspects of the game.

One of the things I love most about Splinterlands is the strong sense of community within the game. The Splinterlands Discord server is filled with helpful and friendly players, and the game's creators have done an excellent job of fostering a positive and welcoming environment for all players. Additionally, there are many content creators within the Splinterlands community who are extremely passionate about the game and produce high-quality content for other players to enjoy.

As a gold level player with a decent Chaos Legion deck, I have also greatly enjoyed the strategy and depth of the game itself. The wide variety of cards and combinations keeps things interesting and allows for a high level of replayability.

However, my love for Splinterlands is often overshadowed by my frustration with the game's pay-to-win dynamic. As a collectible card game that utilizes non-fungible tokens (NFTs), players must purchase cards in order to fully participate in the game. This can be extremely discouraging for those who cannot afford to constantly buy new cards, and it creates a barrier for entry for many players.

This pay-to-win aspect is exacerbated when a new expansion is released, as players must purchase the new cards in order to stay competitive. This can be a significant cost for many players and can be a major deterrent to staying involved in the game.

Overall, while my love for Splinterlands far outweighs my frustration with its pay-to-win dynamic, it is still a source of frustration for me as a player. However, the strong sense of community and the enjoyment I get from playing the game keep me coming back for more.

As 2022 comes to a close, I am curious to know how other players feel about everything that has happened in Splinterlands this year, and how non-whale players are planning for the release of the Rebellion expansion
