Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Metallica - Battery

in Splinterlands2 months ago

Hello everyone! This is my second entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Diamond Ranked.

I fought an interesting battle in Modern Diamond ranked. This was a game with the Heavy Metal rule set. For that reason, I put the name of one of my favorite heavy metal songs in the title! This is a restrictive rule set that only allows units with armor to be played. This is a rule set where magic attacks often shine because they don't care about armor, unless there's Void Armor or Weak Magic involved.

This game has the following rule sets: Heavy Metal, True Strike, and Are You Not Entertained? I went with Possibilus the Wise and put Diemonshark and Mantaroth in the first two positions. I followed it up with Nalara Geinek. Isgald Vorst and River Hellondale were my next ones. I finished the team with Swamp Spitter. They opted for Lorkus and put Grum Flameblade in front. In the Reach slot they place Chimney Wallstop. They followed it up with Djinn Muirat, Grimbardun Smith, and Moxian Rebel. They finished the team with Usut.

They gave Life Leech and Affliction to Usut and Grimbardun Smith. In round 1, no units died, but both Diemonshark and Grum were at a very low HP, although with some armor left. Chimney Wallstop also took some damage from Retaliate and Blast. In round 2, Diemonshark destroyed Grum's Armor and Isgald attacked next. Grum had the lowest HP and Chimney was at 5, so Isgald took out both with the Trample. They killed my Diemonshark, but it was Resurrected. Mantaroth finished their Muirat because both attacks were for 4 damage, just under the Forcefield effect. Usut killed Diemonshark for good. In round 3, things slowed down because Grimbardun Smith survives much better. The Blast damage still killed the Rebel, and they were left with just 2 units against my 5. In round 4, Grimbardun went down and Usut finished Mantaroth. However, River Hellondale removed the Bloodlust buffs with Dispel. I was able to win by round 6.

Their Lorkus team was very scary. However, my higher speed and powerful attacks were able to take out the first few monsters. By the time Grimbardun Smith was in front, their team was much smaller and it didn't have enough firepower anymore. There might be a Lorkus team with Grimbardun in the first 2 positions that works out better. Nalara was also very important to nerf their magic attacks.
