Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Fighting Elias Max Pruitt

in Splinterlands2 months ago

Hello everyone! This is my first entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Diamond Ranked.

I fought an interesting battle against the latest Rebellion airdrop summoner: Elias Max Pruitt. It's a very interesting dual splinter summoner for 7 mana. It +1 melee and +1 armor. The tactics are either giving 1 unit Repair and Cleanse or giving 1 unit Armored Strike and Piercing. I only have the one copy I got from the airdrop and I don't intend to get more. For the regular abilities, it's somewhat comparable to Kelya and Grandmaster Rathe. All 3 give armor to your team. I prefer Kelya's extra speed over the extra melee. This is a 7 mana summoner, so it's not very fair to compare it to a 4 mana one. With the Tactics and the dual splinter, there aren't many situations where I would prefer Grandmaster over this. I think the Armored Strike and Piercing will usually be a much bigger threat than the Repair and Cleanse. Repair and Cleanse might be useful as a backup strategy, for some specific teams. It's still just 1 unit getting either of the Tactics and I don't think it is as good as Eternal Tofu, Lorkus, or Cryptic.

This game has the following rule sets: Melee Mayhem, FabFour, and Healed Out. I picked Eternal Tofu. It looks perfect with just Life and Earth available. I put Mycelic Infantry in the front, followed by Venator Kinjo. The last 2 were my heavy hitters: Mantaroth and Drybone Raider. They went with Elias Max Pruitt which seems a fine option for Melee Mayhem too. They put Iziar in front, with Corsair Bosun in the Reach slot. A max level Olivia of the Brook was next and for the final one, they put Adelade Brightwing.

I gave Corrosive Ward and Thorns to all my units except for Mantaroth. They gave Armored Strike and Piercing to Corsair. In round 1, they dealt some damage to Infantry but I killed Iziar twice. At the start of round 2, Olivia gained Criple. The huge Corsair Bosun took out my tank with both attacks, Olivia and Adelade killed my Venator. Drybone missed 2 of his attacks but it was enough to take out all of Corsair's armor and Mantaroth left it at 1 HP. In round 3, Olivia gained Blast. My units took some damage but Drybone finished the Corsair and Mantaroth dealt some damage to both their monsters. Olivia gained Double Strike in round 4. However, both my monsters survived at 2 HP, after Adelade's attack, and they were able to finish the opponent.

This was a very close game, thanks to Olivia. Even in FabFour, it doesn't take much for her to snowball into something very scary, especially at max level with the Reflection Shield. I do think Tofu was a better option here.
