Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Fighting Clayboyn

in Splinterlands2 months ago

Hello everyone! This is my second entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Diamond Ranked.

I fought an interesting battle against Clayboyn. For those who don't know, Clayboyn is Splinterland's DAO Project Manager. He works tirelessly and you can often find him in Splinterlands' Discord channel, in the Tavern Channel. He's a great project manager, but let's see how good he is at playing the game!

This game has the following rule sets: What Doesn't Kill You, Equal Opportunity, and Odd Ones Out. Great minds think alike and we both went with Eternal Tofu. I put Blind Reflector in front, followed by Nalara Geinek and Djinn Renova. Next, I put Iziar and Jared Scar. For the last spot, I went with Adelade Brightwing. The strategy was using Iziar to resist magic attacks thanks to its Void and the Silence from Geinek. Renova heals it with triage and Adelade Resurrects it. If it dies, it buffs Jared Scar. Melee attacks are not resisted but they're hurt by Thorns. Clayboyn opted for Halfling Refugee in the front with Mantaroth next. He also put Iziar and followed it up with Thanalorian Archer for the Lookout. He had another Taunt unit next: Bera Dallin. Runeslinger was his last one.

I gave Corrosive Ward and Thorns to Djinn Renova, Iziar, and Jared Scar. He gave the same abilities to Mantaroth and both Taunt monsters. My Iziar died in round 1 but Clayboyn's didn't. Jared Scar managed to kill theirs in round 2 but Mantaroth killed mine for the second time. Nalara Stunned Bera and Runeslinger missed Jared Scar. That allowed Jared Scar to survive the round. In round 3, Jared Scar took a big chunk of HP from Bera but died to Mantaroth. Nalara Stunned Bera again. I finally took out Bera in round 4 and Mantaroth in round 5. Renova killed them both. Blinding Reflector died to Runeslinger. Thanalorian Archer died next and with just a ranged monster left, Clayboyn had lost the game.

I think Clayboyn was the favorite because of that turn where Jared Scar survived because Nalara got the Stun and Runeslinger missed the attack, which wasn't very likely to happen. I don't believe I could have won without that. The conclusion is that Clayboyn is also a great player!
