Splinterlands Social Media Challenge / Building a Resilient Water Team: Lessons from Thanalorian Scion in Battle

It is the time of the year when you can start to relax and enjoy the holidays and festivities.
Splinterlands is part of the celebration with interesting lessons to learn as a ranking battle trainee.
If you find some time during this holiday, I assure you that testing new strategies won't feel boring at all. Also, a friend can ask a question about your new game and find it captivating to challenge you to a battle for the occasion.
In this edition of the social media challenge, I hope to convince the Splinterlands player of the quality Scion brings to your water combination in terms of defence.

Main battle rulesets

Mana value: 51

Thanalorian was a card Ilevelledd up from Lv2 to max just because it was exciting to use against magic fighters.
I did not hold enough resources to get the Legendary warriors capable of completing the same job, so I spent the necessary amount of Dark energy crystal to offer my water element a serious defence ally.

A. Complementary Role in the lineup

In the water team, I found that most of the powerful cards are melee cards, and they can not function if Scion is in the front row, blocking the way. It became urgent to find another way to build my team.

Inclusion of Scion was crucial to protect the weak melee cards, who remain defenceless against the magic attacks.

Singariel showed a possible way to use Scion as backup in the line-up; his complementary actions save the day on the battlefield.

You can easily see the reason I chose this lineup. It is a simple way to interpret the strategic move from each side of the board.

The same summoner level on both sides creates an easy environment to see the role of each water warrior in the arena.

Soothsayer
Fellblade

Ulundin element in the other half of the arena could not stop the magic attacks coming from the enemy side. It is one of the particularities of magic attack, they directly impacts your cards' health points. If your strategy does not provide a system to keep this health status protected, then your tanker proposal won’t change the outcome in the arena.

** Victory for the Water team

Here you will find another possible scenario where the valuable addition of Scion in the lineup of the Splinter contributes to the victory of his team.

The dragon team seems weak compared to the water lead summoner lineup.
The legendary melee warrior in the front line did not convince me of the success of the Scion team.
It was a serious exchange of damage where the bloodlust from the dragon team kicked in and balanced the race for power.

I saw the action of Scion as the enemy progression holder. Thanalorian gave the chance to the bloodlust warrior nest to him to unlock his special abilities and gain enough power to destroy his enemies.

Scion is not always the card that creates the change of result in the game of strategies, where anything can happen.

B. Scion complex moves

In many scenarios, the role of Scion can not alone save the lineup against the damage caused by the opposite side.

Scion can hold on to his position for a while, but without proper support from his ally.

In this battle, the enemy managed to overwhelm Scion's position, not allowing the counterattacks to be effective.

It was the situation where consider chosen carefuly the members of your team, as the ruleset pointed out low mana restriction.

** Another lesson you can get from this battle

The magic presence on the battlefield was eminent considering the ruleset.
One element in the ruleset causes the Scion team to lose. It was the reverse speed.

I believe that the great summoner on the winning team could cause more damage in another scenario, but in this situation, Singariel could have done the job.

However, the speed of the warrior from the water element was too. It caused team Tofu to launch its attacks. Also evade Singariel warriors' attacks.

C. Build your Team accordingly

I hope this series of battles gave you enough information to build a solid team of magic defence.
It is a solid warrior when Splinter places Scion at the right spot in the arena. I love to use Thanalorian in the lower league of combat. Gold is the higher environment where I dare to trick my opponent with this exceptional warrior.

I am sure you will find Thanalorian in your scale-up strategies as you build your team from Silver to Diamond league.
