A Surprising Milestone
As I took the steps to bring my bot back to life, I realized it had been a whopping 465 days since I last used it. In that time, I’ve fully immersed myself in manual gameplay, fine-tuning my strategies and building my collection. However, the demands of balancing a growing roster of cards, staying competitive, and carving out time to play have started to outweigh the fun factor for me.
Within minutes of reactivation, the bot was back in action, delivering impressive results. While I’ll admit it’s bittersweet to hand over the reins, I’m encouraged by how effective it has been.
A Shift in Focus
My decision doesn’t mean I’m stepping away from Splinterlands entirely. Instead, I’m choosing to allocate my time differently within the ecosystem. Land has always been a central focus for me, and with the upcoming release of Land 1.75, I’m eager to dive deeper into its potential. My bot will handle the grind of daily battles, allowing me to focus on strategy and long-term planning.
One of the challenges I’ve faced is the growing number of cards I don’t have readily available. It’s a natural evolution of the game, but it’s made staying competitive more difficult. Automating my battles ensures I stay in the mix without the frustration of managing an incomplete deck.
The SPS Trade-Off
One aspect I still struggle with is sharing my SPS (Splintershards) earnings with the bot service. While this isn’t ideal, the amount earned in the Wild format has diminished over time, making the trade-off easier to accept. My focus has shifted away from maximizing earnings in this area, and the convenience the bot offers outweighs the downside.
Reflections on the Future
This decision has given me a new perspective on the choices other players have made. Automation is becoming increasingly common, and while it’s not a perfect solution, it reflects the changing dynamics of the game. As more players turn to bots to manage their accounts, I wonder what this means for the future of Splinterlands.
Will the game continue to evolve in a way that balances automation and manual play? Can it maintain the same level of engagement for players who, like me, find themselves shifting priorities? These are questions I’ll be pondering as I watch my bot handle the grind and focus on other opportunities.
Reactivating my bot isn’t the end of my Splinterlands journey—it’s a pivot. I’ll remain engaged in the community, keep an eye on land developments, and continue to explore the game’s ecosystem in meaningful ways. This new chapter allows me to enjoy the benefits of Splinterlands while freeing up time for other pursuits, both within and beyond the game.
For now, I’m content watching my bot climb the ranks and keeping my energy focused where it’s most impactful. If you’ve been wrestling with similar decisions or have insights on balancing automation and manual play, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Together, we’ll see where this ever-evolving journey takes us.
