Splinterlands - Season 143 - Chests are Back!

Season 143 is over and I managed to reach Diamond II but dropped back to Diamond III at the very end. Staying up in Diamond II has been tougher in the last couple of seasons.

This can be because we have had a surge of active players this season and maybe the trend is changing for Splinterlands.

I continued my strategy of stacking common and rare cards this season and the aim is to max out the first batches of common and rare card draws , which is just about possible with my glint earnings.

I even bought some merits which enabled me to get more glad cards and pull a very needed Quora. I still need just 1 more to get her to level 3 which would be pretty epic.

My ranking was higher than last season and I reached 3060 in Diamond III vs 2920 last season. My End of Season glint earnings were nearly 64k which was about the same as last season, so nothing spectacular happened there. I bought my 400 common and 30 rare cards with my glint. I had enough even for 2000 merits too.

With my common card focus, I have already got 12 cards at level 6 already and they will become useful to use when chaos legion rotates out.

My soulbound progress is going well with 32%(+8%) of common cards and 16%(+6%) of rare cards completed. I still have gold foil cards to fall back on and burn for glint if needed.

The big news is that from this new season, you can win chests for progressing leagues in the game. This could make playing ranked play more attractive, maybe even to bring more bots back? Probably the bot farms are running the numbers already.

The only concern is that the printing of soulbound cards would increase and people are likely to max out their cards pretty quickly. It does seem that Splinterlands is becoming more of a soulbound (web2) game, rather than NFT focused as previously. It would seem crazy to buy packs or rebellion cards with the crazy reward card printing.

I am however happy to get more chests as I dont buy them anymore because the price increase made them unviable compared to getting the cards imo.

My glad cards progress is much slower, with just 1% gain on my common, rare and epic cards. Only my legendaries increased by 2%.

The good news this month has been the appreciation in SPS and DEC. If this trend continues, we could see some nice action in the game during Uptober.
