What’s up my fellow Splinterlands players!
Happy New Year to all of you and your family and I hope you are enjoying this festive season with your family and friends. For us splinterlands players also, the new year came right on time as we just ended playing a ranked season a couple of days ago, so I hope you guys enjoyed the celebration without missing your rewards. Now taking a look at the ongoing season, we still have 12 more days before it meets its end, so we all have plenty of time to play and earn our rewards. Now for me, in the last one, I finished playing the season at the Champion III league tier and after the season, my trophy count was reset and right now I am sitting at the Diamond I league tier with a trophy count of 3,520. Having another 12 days in hand, I have plenty of time to reach my goal so I will utilise the time to earn more SPS and Glint points and will start to focus on pushing my trophy count in the last week. Let’s see how it goes in the end.
Now moving forward, let me come to the main topic of this post as today, I will be talking about another monster with you all. This is my favourite monster in modern format and I am pretty sure it is also a favourite one to most of you as well. As you have already seen in the thumbnail above, today I will be shedding light upon the GRIMBARDUN SMITH. So, if you are interested, let’s take a dive without any further ado.
GRIMBARDUN SMITH
GRIMBARDUN SMITH is a special and rare monster type card that was launched in the game with the introduction of a Rebellion edition card set and this is a Promo type card. This card belongs to the Neutral element, so you can use this card while using any of the elements if allowed by the match ruleset. This is a rare type of card, so you will need a total of 115 BCXs of cards in order to upgrade this card to the maximum level. It costs 6 mana to use this card in a battle, so you can easily select this card in your lineup when playing medium to high mana limit matches. This is an attack-less tank card, but it comes with very good stats and abilities, because of which this card has immense popularity among players. Let us now take a further look into this card’s league wise stats and abilities to find out more.
BRONZE
At level 2, this monster card possesses 1 speed at 1 armour with 9 health with no kind of attack power but it does have a useful ability called Immunity which it gets from its initial level. With the help of this ability, this monster will be immune from all types of magic debuffs and Cripple.
SILVER
When this monster gets upgraded to level 4, it receives an increased stats of 1 speed at 1 armour with 10 health and it also gets a new ability from level 3 onwards called Void. With the new ability, this monster gets 50% less damage (rounded up) from enemy magic attacks and 0 damage from 1 magic attack.
GOLD
As this monster gets upgraded to level 6, its armour stats get increased as it gets 1 speed at 2 armour with 10 health and it also gets a new ability from level 5 onwards called Shield. With this newly added ability, now this monster will get 50% less damage (rounded up) from enemy melee and ranged attacks and will receive 0 damage from those physical attacks of 1 power. So, now this monster can defend well against all 3 types of attacks!
DIAMOND / CHAMPION
Finally, when you upgrade this monster to its max level of 8, its stats get increased further as it gets 1 speed at 3 armour with 3 health and gladly, it also receives a new ability at its max level called Repair. With this new ability, this monster can restore 2 armour (up to the max) of a friendly monster with the most damaged armour.

BATTLE STATS
This time I received a large 60 mana limit battle where there were 4 elements allowed to choose in this match - Fire, Water, Life and Dragon. There were also 3 rulesets applied in this battle as follows - Reverse Speed (units with the lowest speed will be the first and have the highest chance of evading attacks), Keep Your Distance (no melee monsters can be used in this match) and Heavy Hitters (all monsters get the Knock Out ability). As you can see, no melee monsters will be allowed in this match, so I will have to take care of magic and ranged attacks only. So I started thinking of an appropriate lineup and after thinking a little, I just decided to use all magic attackers with the Smith protecting my front position. So, as I thought, I started building my lineup accordingly.
For this match, first of all, I chose the mighty Dragon legendary summoner Akane with Life element monster cards and at my front position, I chose the Grimbardun Smith followed by Aves Strugis, Chaos Dragon, Iziar, Night Reaper and Oshuur Constantia at my end position. Anyway, when both the lineups were revealed later in the battle, I found out that my opponent had chosen the legendary Dragon summoner Lily Shieldpaw and at his front position, he selected the same Grimbardun Smith to defend his front followed by Oshuur Constantia, Night Reaper, Chaos Dragon, Merdaali Guardian and the Doctor Blight at his end position.
As the battle started, my Chaos Dragon and Night Reaper attacked first because of the ambush ability from my summoner and wounded the first 3 enemy cards. The at first round, all the enemy monsters started hitting my Iziar, while my monsters started targeting and attacking the enemy Smith. Gladly, my Chaos Dragon again attacked the enemy Constantia and killed it down while blast damaging the adjacent enemy cards. Next, my Night Reaper targeted the enemy wounded Reaper and killed it down easily, followed by my Constantia who killed down the enemy Smith at round 3. Then, my Chaos Dragon attacked again and this time it took down the Merdaali easily while again damaging the adjacent cards, followed by the enemy Chaos Dragon who killed my wounded Aves but it got resurrected immediately, thanks to my Constantia. Next, my Reaper was ready and took the revenge by killing down the Chaos Dragon and at this point, only the enemy Doctor Blight was alive in the opponent’s side and got taken care of quickly by my Aves and thus, I won another amazing match!
