As you may already know, after April there will be a requirement of Staked SPS for playing in higher leagues, in replacement for Collection Power.
This is a brief post to express my opinion about this terrible idea.
Today, CP justifies purchases and the maintenance of Tier 20 cards in one's collection, such as BICERATOPS, KOBOLD BRUISER, GIANT SCORPION and many others that quite rarely will ever be played (because there's better stuff to use).
If Staked SPS replaces CP as a requirement, the card value and rental value for this cards with less utility will drop imensely. I see that as a extremely bad thing, since all assets should matter. That would be the corner stone of Splinterlands, if compared to Magic The Gathering (MTG) Economy.
As a MTG player for almost 30 years here in Brazil, the thing that makes me more frustraded, is seeing how the excessive print runs and also the newer cards, makes the older ones complete obsolete and with no value whatsoever. The cost to produce the less valuable cards is far greater then their actual value and that's just nuts.
Collection Power is a splendid mechanism to avoid that from happening, and also, make players aware that all assets serve to a certain purpose.
If the DEV team wants to require Staked SPS for higher leagues, it can be good for the SPS value. But, that will be terrible for card value and card rentals. Therefore, I guess the ideal requirement should be for a combination of both CP and Staked SPS!
Also, the main problem for CP was the excessive minting of Rewards Cards. That can be easily fixed. Rewards cards (from any age in the game) should have no CP.
This way, the only cards that would offer any CP would be the ones found in booster packs (except Gladius). The selling of boosters is extremely important for the maintenance of the game and it's team, and if the only way to get CP would be by having or renting cards found on boosters, that would drive some people to prefer to buy those, rather then the Reward ones, and that would keep the boosters sale in a healthier state.
Please, DEV team, read this and give it a thought. CP is still important, don't kill it!
Keep up the good work, and for all of you that read this, I thank for your time and attention.
Best regards,
Lordcagor

I think cards from older sets get outclassed by newer cards with not only better stats but new abilities.
Only reason they would be in demand for play would be for specific rulesets. Otherwise nobody would want to own/rent them anyway.
