When Chaos Legion came out, the Light Splinter was my least used splinter. This is simply because the summoner General Sloan was not as good as the others and ranged damage is the weakest among the three damages. Also, the Light Splinter is not as strong as the others in the Bronze and Silver Leagues.
Recently, with the CL soulbound reward cards and at higher levels, I find that the Light Splinter is strong. The units are strong enough that even without taking advantage of the summoner buff, it can still win. Indeed, there are some battles where I don't use ranged units with General Sloan. Just my meta cards and my favorite strategy in when using the Light Splinter. It gets even better if I use a Dragon summoner like Quix or the soulbound reward card Franz Ruffmane.
The Team Composition
These are the cards that I use for this strategy to work.
Summoner
My first choice of summoner is Quix then General Sloan and if the mana fits then Franz Ruffmane.
Tank - First position
I would use a tank with healing ability and has a shield. This would ensure that my tank will stay longer in the battle. My first choice will be Uriel the Purifier if in high mana battles or the Imperial Knight who also has the Void Shield ability.
Second Position
I usually use Djinn Renova. Aside from dealing 3 magic damage, she support the whole team with her Strengthen ability. Also, her Triage ability is crucial for the strategy.
Third Position
I usually place Adelaide Brightwing in the third position. She deals just 2 magic damage but she support the tank with her Repair ability. Added to that she has other useful abilities like Flying and Immunity which can be useful in certain rulesets.
Last Position
Iziar in the last position. He is the key card for this strategy to work. He has the Taunt ability to draw enemy attacks and Void to help defend against magic attacks.
Other Cards
I would usually use other high damage cards like Gargoya Devil, Magi of Chaos or Pelacor Arbalest.
If I feel like being more defensive then Spirit Hoarder is also a good choice with its Triage abilities. It also helps debuff the opponent with its Blind and Dispel abilities which I find useful against Bloodlust and Martyr.
The Strategy
Iziar will draw enemy attacks while being healed with Triage. My tank and other damage dealers will do damage to his frontline units. In this case both Iziar and Uriel/Imperial Knight are very beefy and last long in the battle because of healing, Void and shields being repaired. I have a very high win rate with this strategy.
Sample Battles
Here's the usual team that I use. Uriel, Renova, Adelaide and Iziar with other high damage dealers.

I can also use this strategy of Iziar drawing enemy attacks in other rulesets like Keep Your Distance. In this ruleset where the opponent will likely use magic damage, Iziar's Void is very useful.

Counters
Of course, no strategy is perfect. Since my strategy relies on Iziar and tank's healing as well as the shields of my tanks, it can be countered if my opponent has units with Affliction or Shatter abilities. This is what makes Splinterlands fun, if you can guess what your opponent will likely play, then you can design a counter to it no matter how strong his units are.
Thank you for reading and have fun playing Splinterlands!
