At this point in time, my favorite splinter is fire. The reason is that it's relatively cheap to build a strategy that works with Malric Inferno, you can get some good cards that aren't too expensive and form a full-meelee team for both low and high mana battles. Of course, your enemy can easily crush you with Mylor and sometimes with Zintar Mortalis, but that's why you shouldn't focus on only one splinter.

This, of course, is the real key to the game. Especially as you move to higher brackets, where the variety of rulesets make it impossible to compete unless you have at least 2-3 strong splinters.
