The Challenge

For this week's Splinterlands Share your Battle Challenge, Lava Spider of the Fire Splinter is to be featured. As I do not own one, I decided to join the Social Media Challenge instead and I chose to share an intense battle between a blade of fire wielder and tall broad blade user.

    League: Gold
Splinters allowed: All Splinters except Water and Dragon
Rulesets: Reverse Speed and Noxious Fumes
    Mana Cap: 15
    Line Up: Fire
    Battle Replay: Watch in Splinterlands

In low mana caps where Noxious Fumes is one of the rulesets, any monster possessing Heal is usually deployed to counter the 2 damage it causes every round. I decided, however, to go for survivability and raw power at the same time.

With Tarsa's +1 Melee damage and +1 Health, I placed my Furious Chicken (L6), Scorch Fiend (L1) in the front to absorb any incoming damage and had enough mana to include both Kobold Miner (L7) to do some sneak attack, and my heavy-damager who cannot be poisoned, the Forgotten One (L5).

    Round 1

Upon seeing the enemy's Grum Fireblade, I lost hope already as I have anticipated he'll get the opportunity to activate his Bloodlust in his first two attacks. This would have meant he'll have enough damage to kill all my monsters, even my Forgotten One, before the poison kills him.

My Furious Chicken was helpful in this round as it hit first and was able to reduce Grum's armor to 3 before finally dying by his hands. Bloodlust was triggered as expected! His armor was reduced to 1 by Scorch Fiend's attack and, ultimately, eliminated after Kobold Miner's attack.

    Round 2

My Scorch Fiend died from the noxious fume, my Kobold Miner's health reduced to 4, and, due to the Reverse Speed ruleset, Grum attacked first this time and, again, activating his Bloodlust, leaving him with yet another armor.

    The Showdown

In their face-to-face battle, Forgotten One has 6 Melee attack and 5 armor while Grum has 7 and 1 armor, both having 10+ Health. With Grum having 1 Speed, Forgotten One attacked before the round ends but miserably missed (meme available here).

Grum had my armor completely removed with his 7 Attack, but I retaliated! With my Piercing skill, I was able to get through his armor and reduced his health from 13 to 6. My Forgotten One's normal attack MISSED AGAIN!

By this time, I've fully accepted it was a loss. With him causing 7 damage and reducing my health to 4, if I miss again, then he'll be able to cause a fatal damage, ending the game.

Forgotten One doesn't forget, however, and retaliated for the last time, finishing Grum Fireblade in this anxiety-inducing battle.

    Takeaway

Grum Fireblade is a formidable opponent, every time. His armor and Void Armor skill makes him tough against all kinds of attack, Melee, Magic, and Range. Combined with his Bloodlust, it's easy for him to rampage and kill most, if not all, of his enemies. Forgotten One rules the Noxious Ruleset, however, and, having both Retaliate and Piercing, this allowed him to cause serious damage to Grum.
