Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles, with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where I won because I used Kelya Frendul.
Featured cards

Kelya Frendul is a water archon/summoner that costs 4 mana. This archon gives your entire team +1 speed and armor. Increasing its level increases the level cap of the cards you can use alongside this card.
This card is part of the Chaos Legion set, so I can't use it anywhere except for Wild and Brawls. This summoner is just that amazing because 4 mana for the +1 speed/armor is amazing. I use this card mainly for Brawls because I can't give up the speed and armor, as it helps a lot in matches.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Weak Magic, Taking Sides, and Rise of the Commons. This means only common/rare cards can be used, no neutral monsters can be used, and magic will have to go through armor first. There is also 40 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for life.
This fight is interesting because we are limited in the cards we can use, and magic monsters aren't as strong. This works to my advantage because I don't have many good gold foil magic monsters available in my brawls.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kelya Frendul | 4 | Summoner | +1 speed and armor |
| Alva the Crusher | 6 | 1st | Shield and Bloodlust |
| Flying Squid | 7 | 2nd | Reach |
| Demented Shark | 6 | 3rd | Inspire |
| Deeplurker | 6 | 4th | Opportunity |
| Swamp Spitter | 7 | 5th | Repair |
| Sultry Barmaid | 5 | 6th | Stun and Ambush |
| Total Mana: | 41 |
My summoner is Kelya Frendul for its +1 armor and speed. My tank is Alva the Crusher because of the shield and bloodlust. Flying Squid is my backup tank with reach. Demented Shark has inspire and Deeplurker has opportunity. Swamp Spitter has repair, and Sultry Barmaid has stun and ambush.
The focus of this lineup is stay alive and deal as much damage as I can with my melee monsters. I have that inspire monster, so my melee monsters will deal more damage. Swamp Spitter will repair the armor from Keyla and the last monster has stun so it can limit the amount of damage my opponent can do when it lands.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that I have the advantage because I am faster than my opponent, and the magic monsters are weaker due to the ruleset. The extra speed will let me kill off my opponent faster than he can damage me. At the same time, my repair monster will reduce the damage that I take.
Round 5

I haven't lost any monsters, but my opponent is down to just one monster left. At this point, there is zero chance that I can die. I have two melee monsters with higher speed than my opponent, so they would not miss.

After a few more rounds, I won the match as I expected.
Conclusion
The battle this time did not play out as I planned. Keyla's +1 speed and armor were amazing, as the extra armor, when combined with repair, made it extremely hard for my opponent to deal damage to me. The speed allowed my monsters to attack first, and this reduced the damage that I would take. There wasn't much my opponent could do as I was unlikely to miss any attacks. Keyla is a summoner that I use a lot in Brawls because those stats are just amazing for your cards.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
