Brawl Report #122 - Relying on free wins to do well in brawls

in Splinterlands5 days ago

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I missed the result screen of the previous brawl so I need to pay a bit more attention. It didn't go so bad because I didn't have as many fights and there were some nice free wins. My battle results weren't the best though as I lost most of my actual battles.

Brawl fights

I won 1 fight due to a surrender and lost the other 3. Below is an idea of the match and a few thoughts about it, but considering that I only had 4 fights, I also had 3-4 free wins.

You can find the first match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. It's tough to beat a Cursed Windeku with thorns and heal.

You can find the second match here. I lost this match because my opponent just had the stronger lineup. All that repair was annoying to deal with. It didn't help that the ruleset had scattershot either as I couldn't focus down my opponent and those support abilities just had my opponent outlast me.

You can find the third match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup again. This time though, I stood zero chance. Llama, Kron, and Katrelba were already deadly but you also add in more healing monsters on top of that. However, I did come close and my opponent won because I didn't land enough attacks. It's a rare fight where I didn't think I would stand a chance but I did come close until fatigue kicked in.

Brawl Result

I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and I got 4 wins and 3 losses. It was a decent brawl as I won quite a few fights even if it was only because they didn't show up. My rewards for the brawl were 5,238 merits and 87.238 SPS in the 4-star category. I forgot to visit the guild and take a closer view of my rewards but I think we ranked in around 4th place. The bunch of guilds who didn't submit a match definitely helped our guild place higher and it's too bad my actual fights didn't do so great.

Conclusion

I think my brawl result this time wasn't so bad if I take into account all those free wins. Make sure to submit your matches even if you don't win. You never know if there will be free wins because people forgot to submit their matches. I have had a few times where I forgot as well or when life kept me too busy. It happens, but I would try to submit your matches because that is how you get the rewards at the end of a brawl.

There's no need to be ashamed, the players you competed against had better summoners and stronger cards, but great SPS reward haul.

It's rough but our guild did well. the merits/SPS was great this time around.

The fact that you won one has given you an edge
When you keep playing steadily, you’d surely get better at it

It was mainly free wins. 1 from surrender and 3-4 from guilds not placing people in fights. The actual fights where both teams submitted, I still lost but it was a good brawl.

Llama kron unless you got affliction (and it always applies every round before he can heal) is gg even today

I was able to kill off that Kron because it didn't get last stand, but I lost in the end because of that last stand combined with heals on the last monster. I couldn't land enough attacks.
