What If: We Have New Gladiator Abiliy
As I do my brawls, I thought to myself. What if we have new gladiator cards next year? What ability would the new Gladiator cards have? So I went to a trance and ponders the universe on what cool abilities the next Gladiator cards would have and how would it work. Come with me.

Bloodlust

Let us first review what the current ability is. For the new players, Gladiator cards are used mainly in brawls. They have a specific ability that no Non-Gladiator cards have. And that is Bloodlust. Bloodlust gives +1 to all stats when the ability bearer successfully kills an enemy. It can be trigged by Blast, Thorns, Magic Reflect, Return Fire, Retaliate, or Poison. For example, if the Gladiator card has Return Fire and the opponent died because of the returned ranged damage, Bloodlust will be activated. This seems to be Over-powered but there is a downside to it. In Reverse Speed, Bloodlust increased the speed stat causing the gladiator to be slower. Another downside is when the boosted Melee attack exceeds 4, enemies with Forcefield will reduce the damage to 1.

New Abilities
Knowing that Splinterlands based the inspiration of Gladiator cards in a Gladiator Arena of the Ancient Rome, let us picture ourselves in such a place and derive new abilites for ourselves.
Blood Bath

When this monster killed an enemy, monsters adjacent to the enemy will get damaged as well. Picture this as a Gladius-version of Blast. The damage dealt with the adjacent enemies will be 50% of the unit's base attack rounded up. Heck we can even increase the damage by x2 or x3 with Amplify or when the monster with this ability has only 1 health.
Release The Lions

Remember those movies about Gladiators where they release the lion or lions? Why don't we have that? For the unit having this ability we can do this in many ways:
- When the unit dies, it will be replaced by the Gladiator Lion card. The lion will have 50% of its Health and Attack.
- When the unit kills an opponent, the opponent will be replaced by the Gladiator Lion card, wrecking havoc to its adjacent units for 2 - 3 turns.
- When no more cards are in the battlefield. Gladiator Lion cards will appear. The number of lions depends on the number of units with the ability "Release The Lions". Think of it as a Lion Last Stand.
Battle Cry (or Gladiator Cry)

Every time this unit takes damage, adjacent units will receive +1 attack stat boosts. Meaning, the bearer of the card gives +1 on Magic, Ranged or Melee Attacks whenever it receives damage. OR it will give 50% of the damage received.

Closing
My personal favorite is Release the Lions ability. Please do note that I am not in any way part of the Dev team so this is just pure speculation or suggestion if you will. How about you? Do you have some abilities in mind? Make a post or comment here.
