Rebellion Reward Cards Coming to Splinterlands
Hello Jabeelievers!
With the recent 'unofficial' announcement from RoyalEagle in the Splinterlands Discord, we will be having the next set of SoulBound Reward Cards from Rebellion by August 15th. This is a great news for the long-time players and new incoming players alike. In this post we will discuss what to expect from the new set and speculate on new cards and abilities.
What To Expect
According to @yabapmatt during the recent Town Hall, the next set of Soulbound Reward Cards "is a big project with bunch of new cards, lots of new abilities and not just your run-off-the-mill, throw-out boring new set..". He implied that the new Rebellion Reward Cards are meta defining and would surprise everyone with monster abilities. Matt also stated that we can save up Glints and spend it all in one big rush for the new set of cards.
The current SoulBound cards, on the other hand, will no longer be available in the Glint Shop. Those cards can be 'unbound' or made tradeable for 10x the burn value (Not Final). For example, a common card with the power of 5 can be unbounded for 50 DEC. While a legendary reward card can be unbounded for 5000 DEC (500 Power).
The Cards That We Know So Far
Nate, the awesome Head of Creative, showcased some cards to be released for the new set of SoulBound Reward Cards. The first one he revealed (as per Matt's choice) is Commander Slade.
Commander Slade is expected to have powerful stats as what Nate saw on the test server. It would be under Water Splinter. The mouth in the center looks like the Splinterlands logo but is actually the 'Nightmare Fuel'. We will see what this fuel means in a few weeks.
Another card revealed is the Continuum Seer.
Continuum Seer is under the Fire Splinter. There are no hints stated for this card only the fact that it is a AAA artwork.
Speculations on New Abilities
Rebellion Reward Cards are expected to introduce lots of new abilities in the mix. There are no actual abilities revealed so far but we can expect more of the recent abilities like Charge, Expose and Enfeeble and the like.
Charge allows Melee units to attack from any position. Venka The Vile is currently the only monster that possesses this ability. Hopefully in the next set, we can see more monsters with this ability with a variety of additional abilities mixed in.
Expose has a chance to remove Forcefield, Lookout, Reflection Shield, Shield, Void, Void Armor or Immunity. It will always remove Immunity first which makes it more viable with Poison ruleset/ability. Cryptic is the only summoner that grants Expose along with Poison. We could wish have a monster that possess this ability with 5+ damage rendering Forcefield ineffective.
Enfeeble allows each successful attack to reduce the defender's Melee attack by 1. Kei is the only monster that has this ability. This made me think of the possibility of a monster that reduces the defender's speed or magic instead of attack. Hopefully the new set could have these kinds of abilities.
SoulBound Summoners
The current SoulBound reward cards include summoners. Though we don't have any confirmations yet, we can expect the new set to have summoners. In the current set, summoners introduced a new ability - Conscript that allows Gladiator monsters to be used in Ranked Battles. Personally, I wont expect new mechanics for the summoners because of the recent Summoner Tactics and Dual Element features. What we can expect though are more of these mechanics where SoulBound summoners might include mind-boggling Tactics and new element combinations.
I will speculate, however, that we could have Triple Element combinations OR even Quadruple Element combinations. Speaking of which, please do remember that it is not the Splinterlands team who started multiple element monsters. Before the team even announce it, it is Mr. @axlertwinblade who designed a Spawn inspired dual element card. Prepare to be amazed.
Closing
Amazing right? Well, thank your Mr. AxlerTwinBlade a.k.a. nfoguide for digging up this piece of nostalgia.
That would all for this post. Please be reminded that most of this post are speculations about the new set of reward cards. Thank you for reading my post!

I am still waiting for a card to have Last Stand and Camouflage on it! This Spawn card would have been so much fun.
Personally i dont think summoners should have been dual Element. Dual Element should have been left for unique special cards.
With the summoners being dual element it diminishes how great a single card could have been with 2-3-4 elements on it.
Agreed. Well, the damage has been done, as they say.
