The Weekly Warlord Challenge: Securing Loyalty with Foundation Rewards

In web3 gaming, we often obsess over token sinks and asset prices. But we ignore the most important metric of all: Habit.

Currently, a new player in Foundation Mode who loses five battles in a row earns nothing. They get discouraged. They might quit. We need a system that rewards Loyalty, not just Victory.

This proposal introduces "The Weekly Warlord Challenge," a simple 7-day cycle designed to stabilize Daily Active Users (DAU) and ensure new players keep coming back for the ultimate carrot: A Guaranteed Foundation Pack.

The Concept: "Log In. Fight. Earn."

This is not a passive login bonus where you click a button and leave. To count for the day, a player must do two things:

  1. Log In.
  2. Play at least 1 Battle (Win or Lose).

The Mechanics

  • The Cycle: A simple 7-Day loop. It resets every week.
  • Daily Rewards: Every day you complete the requirement, you get a small "supply drop" (Glint, Merits, etc.).
  • The Streak Rule: If you miss a day, you still get the small daily rewards when you return, but you forfeit the Day 7 Reward.
  • The Carrot: The only way to get the guaranteed Pack is to show up for all 7 days.

The 7-Day Reward Schedule

The rewards are designed to help new players build their deck via Glint and Merits, while the Foundation Tokens give them a lottery ticket for massive prizes.

DayRequirementReward
Day 1Play 1 Battle100 Glint + 50 Merits
Day 2Play 1 Battle150 Glint + 1 Fortune Entry 🎟️
Day 3Play 1 Battle200 Glint + 1 Gold foil Potion
Day 4Play 1 Battle250 Glint + 5 Fortune Entries 🎟️
Day 5Play 1 Battle300 Glint + 1 Legendary Potions
Day 6Play 1 Battle350 Glint + 1 Energy
Day 7Complete 7-Day Streak📦 Guaranteed Foundation Pack

The New Assets

To make this system work, we leverage two assets the team can distribute easily but which hold immense value for players.

1. The Foundation Pack (The Weekly Carrot)

  • The Problem: New players feel stuck. They can't advance without new cards, but they can't win enough to earn them.
  • The Solution: A guaranteed Foundation Pack every 7 days (provided they play daily).
  • The Effect: This gives every player—even those with a 0% win rate—a concrete goal. "If I just play one game a day, I will get stronger next week." This hope is what retains users.

2. The Fortune Entries (The Dream)

  • The Psychology: Even a max-level Champion will log in and play their daily battle just to snag those raffle tickets. It costs the team nothing to mint the tickets, but it drives massive engagement.

Why This Works

1. It Solves the "Zero Reward" Problem

New players in Frontier mode often struggle to get their first wins. By giving them steady progress (Glint/Merits) just for participating, we keep them in the ecosystem until they learn the strategy.

2. The "Guaranteed Pack" Dopamine

There is no better feeling in a TCG than ripping open a fresh pack of cards. By making this achievable simply by showing up, we train players to make Splinterlands a daily habit.

3. "Just One Game"

The requirement to Play 1 Battle is vital. It converts a "Visitor" into a "Player." Once they play one game to keep their streak alive, they are likely to play two, then three. The hardest part is getting them to click "Battle" the first time. This system guarantees that click.

Conclusion

This system secures the most valuable asset in gaming: Active Player Count.

It is simple. It is fair. And for the new player staring at a foundation collection, that weekly Foundation Pack is the lifeline they need to become a lifelong fan.
