Devastate Your Foes With Death! Modern Death Guide + Giveaway!

in Splinterlands3 years ago

Hello everybody, today I wanted to write up a guide on in my opinion one of the more unique splinters, the death splinter. Some very good cards belong to the death deck, especially from the Chaos Legion. Today I want to go over a few of the best of cards and give you a little insight into each of them. I'm only going to be going over cards from the modern format as it is right around the corner and very relevant right now.
Cursed Windeku
First off we're going to start with my absolute favourite deck card from the Chaos Legion. the Cursed Windeku. The Cursed Windeku has some amazing stats coming in at a cost of 6 mana for; 2 attack, 3 speed, and a whopping 9 hp. Not only does this card have such amazing stats, but it comes with one of the most useful abilities for a creature in the first slot: thorns. That means it can be dishing out a possible 4 damage per turn, usually hitting first with it's quick 3 speed, and being able to last quite a few blows with it's 9 hp. It goes without saying that this is one of the top cards in the death deck for modern.
Harklaw
Another amazing card for the first slot, thought you're going to have to either rent or buy him if you don't already own him as he's not apart of the base collection is Harklaw. Harklaw is a legendary reward card that costs 8 mana, has 2 attack, 2 speed, 3 armor, and 9 hp. He comes equipped with the shield ability that reduces damage from all incoming ranged and melee attacks. If you're expecting a heavy ranged/melee lineup Harklaw can last a whole fight if he has the right monsters backing him up. He is an excellent choice if you have a good read on what the opponent is playing.
Riftwing
A card that cannot be left out even though he cannot attack is Riftwing. He is a 4 cost, 3 speed, 5 hp common card from the chaos legion. He is empowered by the flying ability as well as scavenger. Riftwing's spot in the limelight is usually when it is a lower mana poison/earthquake match. As his foes and allies fall around him to the high damage fom the earthquake poison combo he flies over the earthquake while scavenging the remains of others to survive this treacherous combo of a ruleset. He can also be played in the earthquake or poison rulesets individually as well given the right opportunities.
Magi Necrosi
A card I think a lot of people are sleeping on is the Magi Necrosi. He is a 6 cost, 2 magic damage, 4 speed, 4 hp assassin. He has the camouflage ability as well as snipe. His ability to last until the end of a fight constantly doing that 2 magic damage to units behind the frontline is what is so appealing to me. He is untouchable with a good amount of damage with the ability to potentially take out high priority targets is amazing. While he is cheap I recommend anyone playing the death deck to definitely pick up a copy.
Silent Sha-Vi
The Silent Sha-Vi is usually the captain of the damage dealing unit in the death deck. He costs 5 mana for 2 damage, 4 speed, and 5 hp. For the stats alone he is an amazing card. Not only does he have good stats, but he comes with the sneak ability. Sha-Vi can get to the backline with ease to take out small targets that are poorly placed to rack up the kills through a battle. With his speed and killing abilities he is a card that surely cannot be ignored.
Death Elemental
The Death Elemental is also another great death card for the modern format. He is a 3 cost, 1 magic damage, 3 speed, 2 hp unit. Just like the Magi Necrosi, the Death Elemental also comes with the snipe ability. Combine them both and you have your own mini sniping battalion to get behind the frontline and do some serious damage!
Bone Golem
The Bone Golem is a great choice if you find yourself about to face a heavy magic line-up. He is a 7 cost, 3 attack, 1 speed, 2 armor, 6 hp creature. He comes with the void ability making him an ideal choice when facing magic. He should be used in the first slot in place of the Cursed Windeku or Harklaw.
Life Sapper
The Life Sapper is a smart choice for lower mana matches. It is a 3 cost, 1 magic damage, 2 speed, 2 hp unit. The ability this guy has is life leech, gaining back 1 hp for his 1 damage that he deals. In an equalizer match this guy has an opportunity to get absolutely massive on the hp side of things!

In conclusion I believe these are probably your best bets if you're going to be playing the death deck. There are seriously some strong cards here and I would definitely take a look at them if you have any interest in playing the death deck!
