Welcome Splinterfam to my weekly #Splinterlands #CommunityChallenge, this week focusing on the newly released Avatar and Exemplar utility. This is a huge update that the community has been clamoring for years, so people are excited to start exploring all the features before the end of 2025.
Introduction
To summarize, the new Avatar and Exemplar utility is a way to express yourself in the game. The avatar allows each battlemage to customize the bloodline and traits of their in-game avatar that appears on the battle screen. The exemplar is a unique, one-of-a-kind card that is fully customizable by each battlemage to represent themselves as a playable asset in some formats of the game.
In full transparency, I've not yet decided how I want to build out the specific exemplar cards for each of my three accounts. I know that I'm committed to saving all my Glint to complete collecting the Conclave Arcana reward cards, so for now, I will only be powering up my exemplar cards with the 20 base points allotted to everyone.
Since my initial budget to spend on configuring these exemplars is so tight, I'm holding off on any permanent decisions until I have a clearer idea of how I want to use them on each account. I know they will only be permitted for use in limited formats and challenges from the off, so I won't pay them much mind until more guidance has been disclosed.
So with my attention off the exemplars, I've been fully focused on designing the avatars for my main account, @ducecrypto, and my two alt accounts @treycrypto and @shaelien. For all three accounts, I decided to go with the female human bloodline because representation matters. We love to see more women in STEM (and as powerful battlemage summoners) who step up to defend humans, the best race I know!

For my main account, I had to go for the buns, since in real life I have a top bun myself. The blue hair, blue eye mask, and cloak are a tribute to my favorite football club, Chelsea FC. The gold in the mask and cloak is nicely accented by the gold-tooth grin and the gold trim of the frame. Of course, I went with the dragon background because it is the most powerful element, and the blue really pops against its opposite color.
TreyCrypto
For my alt account, TreyCrypto, I leaned in even harder on the blue theme. I went with the water background and blue row braids. The huge scar over the right eye went well with the scar theme of the dark blue eyes. To finish the playful look, I opted for the tongue wagging out of an open mouth, paired with a strikingly fashionable gold-trimmed, sleeveless white power blazer.
Shaelien
My second alt account is a tribute to my loyal partner of 5 years, so like the handle, I decided to style the avatar like her. Purple is her favorite color, so it was a no-brainer that I would give her avatar the death background. I was also able to give her purple dreadlocks, which is something she often ties into her hair for music festivals. The ruby tone of the power blazer and the red twinkling eyes accentuate the gradual color fade of the locs. Sadly, Shaelien is only a holder of 5 land plots, so of my three accounts, it is the only one that is just a Warden and not in the Runeguard.
Conclusion
I hope you enjoyed the detailed look at the design of my three new avatars in Splinterlands. I'm excited to represent myself with these stunning new female human images. Bye Bye RUNI, it was nice knowing ya!
I'm taking a wait-and-see approach for how to best handle my exemplar cards. I'm not too pressed in the short-term to design my card, and I want to make sure I have a good strategic plan for how I want to develop the card I have on each account. Time will tell for the exemplars.
