Card Overview

As highlighted in my previous post here, Grumpy dwarf is a decent all around position 2 available to everyone. Offering 1 attack, 2 speed, 2 health, 1 armor and a cost of 4 at lvl 1, grumpy dwarf is a reach card available to everyone through the spellbook. But what happens when a grumpy dwarf can't take it anymore? Or encounters llama-kron? He explodes with frustration into his fire splinter counterpart. Exploding dwarf.

Strategy and Placement

In my battle located here I utilized a 2 pronged dwarven assault. Due to the Armor Up ruleset both Exploding Dwarf AND grumpy dwarf are much tankier. That coupled with the melee only ruleset allowed for grumpy dwarf's reach ability to be incredibly necessary.

Normally both exploding dwarf and grumpy dwarf are easy targets for opportunity, or a weak magic attack. Being less than useless as both are rather pricey to be taken down in 1 round.

However, in this battle Magnor absorbs all the damage. That combined with Qid Yuff's puncture across the board allowed exploding dwarf to nearly single-handedly kill living lava by round 3.

Even though Exploding Dwarf didn't retaliate and take down Cerberus in a furious rage the way I had hoped, killing a living lava as a melee unit is no easy feat. Over the following rounds due to the enemy sandworm being gobbled up by my sandworm (Oh the humanity!) the enemy had rather tanky units, but none of them could actually attack. Due to the enemies' lack of backline melee attacks my various units with less overall hp had a much much greater per round damage output. Sadly grumpy dwarf didn't survive Cerberus coming forward to position one, but he blocked a few hits before Magnor moved forward to finish the job.

Conclusion and Talking Tidbits

Overall grumpy dwarf is an excellent utility in your spellbook, while not the best position 2 for every situation. He can shine with any faction.

Did you know that Exploding Dwarves and Charlok Minotaurs both were liberated from the undergound city of Prujic, the Dwarven city of greed? Well now you know. Despite this the origin of the Dwarven race is still shrouded in mystery. All we know is they are rather grumpy and fist bump minotaurs, but I truly believe these are not the last dwarven cards we will see in the Splinterlands. Perhaps then some light will be shown on these vertically challenged disgruntle dwarves. Only time will tell.
