Splinterlands Weekly Challenge - Monster: Efreet Elder

Hello Friends,

Good day all, it's been like bull run in the Splinterlands market s the card prices are on the rise all the time and I hope you got a chance to look into the rental market as well!!!

Cards are being listed for lowest rentals and it's exciting to have some of those and have a better battling experience.

So, the monster for this week's challenge is from Fire splinter and a magic monster Efreet Elder.

Efreet Elder is a new monster and is on higher side of health but lower side of the attack.

It is from rare category and rewards type of cards and has 2 good abilities.

So, from the above screenshot, we can see like what are it's attack levels, speed and health by each level.

The attack ranges between 1 to 3 in it's 8 levels and to get 2 attack, we need to level this to 4 and to get 3 attack, it has to be upgraded to maximum level.

Speed is almost same as it varies from 3 to 4 and changes to 4 from level 3.

Health is as I said, on the higher side as it starts at 8 and can go to 10 from level 7.

It has 2 abilities Last standing and Phase.

Last stand makes it to have increased speed and attack if it is the last remaining monster on the lineup.

Phase allows it to have a chance to not getting attack from magic monsters.

As we can see, the battle was for just 17 mana and earthquake and silenced summoners rule sets were there.

Earthquake is something which will reduce the health of each non flying monsters by 2 at the beginning of each round, so it's better to have flying monsters as much as possible.

Silenced summoners means, we can't get the benefit from summoner like increased speed as per the summoner I used.

Lineup:

1. Furious Chicken:

Since the low mana cap for this battle, I wanted to shield the other monsters from early attack and hence, used this 0 mana monster as the monster with good attack will almost have fast speed and this can take a blow from such monster and allow my other monsters to stay for some more time in this earthquake battle.

2. Giant Roc:

Used this in second slot as it is a monster with flying ability and can avoid earthquake and since it is also a monster with reach ability, it can even attack from second slot.

3. Goblin Shaman:

used this to reduce the health of monsters used by opponent because it has weaken ability which will reduce the health of all the monsters used by opponent.

4. Efreet Elder:

The reason why I used this monster it last position is to utilize it's last standing ability and win the battle with the help of it.

Battle:

Low mana battles are trickier as the monster selection can go wrong most of the time, but luckily, it was good in this case and here I am sharing some of the screenshots from the battle

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

Yeah, low mana made me feel that, I may not have a better chance because of my limited monsters, but the lineup I used with Furious Chicken at the front was good to survive the battle.

Efreet Elder didn't get a chance to use the ability of last chance, but, it was good that it survived along with Goblin Shaman.

Do you like the EFREET ELDER? Why or why not?

I didn't get much opportunities to use this monster before this weekly challenge, but it is not that bad a monster and may be when it leveled up to have 2 magic attack, it can be more useful.

Each monster will have it's own advantages and it's based on the ruleset, we use each of those for specific positions and at a time when card prices are going up, we can have some rented cards instead of buying the cards and have better experience.

That was a short but nice battle, isn't it? Opponent had 3 flying monsters, but all were of lower health and got removed with single attack to each of those.
