Community Engagement Challenge - My Tips for new players

I have seen a lot of articles for this challenge and a few tips or tricks I was going to make have already been mentioned so I wanted to write about one for newer players that sometimes gets overlooked.

When you are starting out playing and you see the various leagues and the league rewards and all that, it is very easy to get tunnel vision. You want to climb the leaderboards and put together the best team you can for each game to give yourself the best possible outcome at winning and moving up the ranks.

My advice and what I have to keep reminding myself is that I am not going to get into the Silver league anytime soon. Those days are long behind me. I am returning to Splinterlands after 2 years. So my focus is purely battling and earning Glint.

Your Energy for battling regenerates at 1 per hour. So during a normal day for me working at my desk I can play about 13 games a day and by the time I start working tomorrow my energy is replenished. But on Friday's for example I can run that bad boy all the way down to zero and by Monday morning its back at full strength.

So with that in mind if I have an hour during lunch to play today, I am going to get through those 13 games. Sure I am trying to put together decent teams but I am not spending minutes and minutes strategizing on each particular unit. I know melee first, then maybe a 2nd melee unit that has reach, then perhaps a magic unit and then ranged. With that general rule of thumb and then depending on whatever the battle rules are I get a team together fairly quickly and battle. Rinse and Repeat.

Do I win most of my games? yeah sort of. I stay around the 500 to 550 Battle Rating and that's fine with me. Because I a few hundred Glint in a day and that also gets added to the season end reward.

That is what I am after. I need cards. I just need more options to pick from and the easiest way to do that is to battle and earn Glint and then buy cards.

A perfect example is that I bought 4 common cards with Glint this morning which was 600 Glint (I had 640 total this morning). Then I battled and I am down to 27/50 energy and now I have 670 Glint that I can spend. So I can buy 4 more common cards today.

That is the key I think for newer players to start getting ahead. The more cards you have means the more options you have and the better hands you can play in each battle. So cards, cards, cards are what you need.
