Buried in the Same Splinter: Can Captain Frankie Break Free From Eternal Tofu

Hello Splinter nerds

Captain Frankie is now available for gameplay! This is the conflict card that was released yesterday, and as much as I love the ability given to this card, I had mixed feelings when I saw the splinter it belongs to.

It shares the bloodline with the rodentian and tideborn and gives any monster from those bloodlines one ability called Inspire which gives +1 melee attack to all allied units.

Aside from this, it also has a pair of abilities that can be given to 2 monsters in the team, "Piercing" and "True Strike". The true strike is one of my favorite abilities as it gives the confidence needed in battle, knowing your monsters will not miss their attack. Piercing is also fantastic as it damages both the armor and health.

With the stats of this summoner, it is giving sneaky vibes. But I was disappointed when I realized this card belongs to the life splinter, where its biggest threat also belongs.

Eternal Tofu is the biggest threat to the melee monsters and infact the main reason players don't spam the melee monsters in battle for fear of being defeated before the battle begins...

Having this amazing summoner in the same splinter kinda kills its shine. It could have been better if it falls in the fire or the death splinter. Or it would probably not see much use until the rebellion rotate from modern format.

I decided to test this summoner in battle

We were given 3 rules:

Four's a crowd: Only 4 monsters can be used...

What doesn't kill you: All the units have enrage ability.

Beefcakes: Only units with 5 or more health can be used.

The first rule was what inspired the use of this summoner, I won't have dared to risk it without the rule cos the summoner is at a big disadvantage due to Tofu.

My fear was confirmed when the teams were revealed, the opponent came with Eterna Tofu!, Imagine playing a melee team against monsters with thorns.

My formation

Dar Gottem Gearnut was my tank. I used it for its high health base, it will take a few rounds before the opponent can eliminate it, which gives me the chance to be able to wreak havoc on the opponent team... Gottem has a void ability that protects him against magic, and it also boosts the team's melee morale with its inspire ability, giving the allied units +1 melee power.

Rila Fen is the best of the conclave reward set. Unfortunately, I do not have it maxed yet, but even at level 4, it is performing well with its heal tank and final rest ability. I used it to provide health to Gottem and also put a stop to any bloodline tribute tactics in case the opponent came with any.

Gramel The Hunger with all the 3 mode of attack was my third monster, and I gave it the piercing and true strike from Captain Frankie, it did great with its attack, which weakens the opponent, but the battle won't have been victorious without my last monster that will be revealed below.

Nephket is the MVM of this battle, and winning would have been impossible without it, thanks to its stun and knockout ability that helps to eliminate his rear monsters, making its team vulnerable and clearing the way to victory for me.

This battle explains the reason why I think it was a big mistake having Captain Frankie and Tofu in the same splinter, and I think it would have been better if Frankie got a Deflect ability that would make the team immune to thorns instead of piercing.

On another angle, it doesn't always have to be melee monsters, I can use it to summon magic and range monsters too given my best fighters the piercing and true strike, and see them do wonders with it.
