Arena Architect : Building the Best Low-Mana Team in Splinterlands

in Splinterlands7 days ago

Hello Splinter nerds

The Splinterlands Winterfest gift box happened at the right time! It is going to be a very busy season for me due to the amount of energy we are getting from the boxes. I have opened three boxes today, with nothing less than 25 energy in each box... 2/3 gave 30 energy. There are more boxes yet to open, so it looks like my battle this season might be up to 1000!

The box above is the 100-dollar package, and I would say it is worth the price... 10 dollars worth of credit, 500,000 glints which was used to purchase alchemy and legendary potions for pack openings, the 500k glints covers the price of the box cos if we use credits or dec to buy the potions, it exceeds the price of 1 box, then we have 30 energy for gameplay, 150 entries to the weekly fortune draw and I think we are going to hit another blackfoil in the next fortune draw... Not to mention the Alchemy packs, the skins, the mags, and the Vin token... No better offer than this.

I have been playing nonstop since the season started up till now, so I decided to take a short break to make a post.

The Splinterlands community engagement challenge is Arena Architect

When creating a team for battle, there are certain things I put into consideration to come up with a lineup that can increase my chance of winning.

The first thing is to choose a splinter that fits best with the rules of the battle... The splinter consists of the summoner and the monsters. After picking the desirable summoner, the first monster, which is called the tank, is another factor that can determine the result of a battle, so I always make sure to go for a tank that has a high health base.

Once the tank is secured, other factors are healers and attackers, which bring victory. Due to too many rulesets and different mana caps in battles. Many strategies are being used.*

A good example was when I got a battle of the lowest mana cap on Splinterlands, which is 12 mana with two rules.

image.pngimage.png

  • High Five: This is the first rule, and it indicates that you can summon a max of 5 units; it can be less than 5 if that is what you want, but never more than 5.

  • Now you see me: This rule indicates that all units have the camouflage ability and can not be directly targeted unless in the front position.

The 12 mana battle cap ruled out the use of legendary summoners for me, cos I can't imagine using a legendary summoner of 7 mana, which leaves me with only 5 mana left to summon a monster.

So what did I use and what did the opponent come up with?

The opponent used the fire splinter while I picked the death splinter using Razi Clanktrap to summon the monsters.

Razi is one of my favorite conclave arcana summoners, and this is because of its stats; the abilities it possesses are awesome! It gives all monsters the close-range ability, which allows all range monsters to be able to attack from the front position, while it gives all monsters that share the same bloodline with it the Painforge ability.

Razi is a 4 mana summoner, so I still have 8 mana left for the monsters. Check out below for my team and the reason for each monster.

Halfing Refugee was my first monster and any monster that serves as my tank needs to have a high health base, so it can delay the opponent's attack on the rest of my team, with such low mana cap battle, Halfling Refugee a one mana monster seems to be the only monster qualified to be my tank, it is a 1 mana monster with 8 health!

Weapon Training

With such a low mana cap, I need monsters with low mana as well and that is only possible and can be well utilized through weapon training my non attack monsters with low mana, lucky longshot is one of the best weapon training monster, it has two mode of attack, it is a low mana monsters with 3 mana so easy to use in low cap battles. The two monsters she weapon trained are down below.

Ahna-Chei Botanist and Nimbledook Scout are non-attack monsters with weapon training; both have high speed and other amazing abilities that make them a terror the moment they are weaponized.*

Last but not least is Elanor Bravefoot, the monster that costs no mana yet is as strong as those that cost mana..., its weary ability is the price she has to pay for being a zero mana card... It did well in this battle too...

The mistake the opponent made was scattering his attacks, one of his monsters had snipe ability, another is a sneaky monster, and to make it worse, he used a monster with incendiary[burning effect] that can spread...
