Strategy Guides for Tactics Summoners

Introduction

This week's challenge is all about exploring the exciting tactics brought by Tactics Summoners. These summoners add a whole new layer of strategy to Splinterlands, and I’m here to share my experiences and tips.

Here are my current Tactics Summoners:

In Modern, some summoners—like Eternal Tofu—dominate the meta, but they’re also making waves in Wild. I’m still figuring out if bots can fully utilize their potential.

As you can see, my summoners aren’t all maxed yet, which could become an issue when Conclave Arcane drops. On the bright side, my Lorkus is maxed out because I struck gold (literally) during the Rebellion Conflict Wagons. I pulled a gold foil, sold it, and used the funds to max a regular foil version. For the rest of the set, I mostly stuck to guaranteed pulls.

I have to say, these Tactics Summoners are one of the best updates Splinterlands has seen in the past year. They provide an edge over bots and give players more control over battles—a win-win for strategy lovers like me.

Let’s dive into what makes these summoners special and how you can use them to dominate the battlefield.

What Are Tactics Summoners?

Tactics Summoners are unique because they combine passive abilities with active choices. They allow you to assign buffs or debuffs to your own units—or even your opponent’s units! Let’s look at Lorkus as an example:

Lorkus has a passive ability that grants +1 Melee and +1 Magic attack to all your units. On top of that, you can assign tactical abilities, in Lorkus case:

  • orGrant 2 units with Life Leech and Affliction
  • Grant 2 units with Trample and Fury

Usually, you’d apply these abilities to your own units. For example, pairing Life Leech with a high-health unit or using Fury to counter Taunt tanks. However, in some cases, assigning debuffs to your opponent’s key units—like their poison or give a unit taunt—can turn the tide of a battle.

What Is the Tactics Round?

The Tactics Round begins after you select your team and hit Battle. This phase lets you assign buffs and debuffs to specific units, adding an extra layer of strategy.

In ranked matches, you can wait for your opponent to lock in their team before selecting your tactics. This allows you to tailor your buffs and debuffs to counter their setup.

Once you’ve decided on your tactics, simply assign the abilities to your chosen units, as shown below:

Pro tip: Ranked matches give you more flexibility, but in tournaments and brawls, tactics are chosen blind. This means you won’t know your opponent’s lineup ahead of time, so focus on boosting your own strengths rather than countering an unknown team.

Special Ambush Round

This unique power allows selected units to strike before the battle officially begins, giving you a tactical edge that can shift the momentum right from the start. One of the great features in the Tactics Summoner lineup is the Ambush ability.

Let’s take a closer look at Akane, the Tactics Summoner with the Ambush ability:

With Akane, you can grant two units the Ambush ability. Units with Ambush get a preemptive strike—a free attack before the battle starts. If you choose powerful attackers for Ambush, you can deal significant damage to your opponent’s key units even before their turn begins.

Here’s an example of how Ambush can create a decisive advantage:

Final Thoughts

Tactics Summoners bring a whole new dynamic to Splinterlands. They reward players who think ahead and make the game feel more interactive—especially compared to playing against bots. Plus, they offer a glimpse of what’s to come with future updates, like Land 2.0 or 3.0, where crafted spells might add even more strategic depth.

If you haven’t tried Tactics Summoners yet, I highly recommend giving them a shot. They’re fun, flexible, and can turn even the toughest battles in your favor.

That's all for this week hope you enjoyed reading this post. See you all on the battlefield.
