Battles and Blessings: A Splinterlands Thanksgiving Tale

in Splinterlands2 months ago

Introduction

After a week of being ill, I’m finally ready to take on this week’s challenge. It’s been a time for reflection, and I find myself feeling grateful for so many things once again.

Let’s start with something that has been a constant in my life since November 2021: Splinterlands. It’s a game I’ve been playing every day since I first joined, whether it’s battling in tournaments or brawls manually or letting a bot handle my ranked matches.

This challenge is the perfect opportunity to dive into why I’m so grateful for Splinterlands—the Splinterlands version of gratitude, if you will!

The Community

First and foremost, the Splinterlands community is the reason I’m still here. Sure, there’s been plenty of salt and drama over the years, but the number of helpful and supportive people far outweighs the negativity.

One of my favorite parts of the community is the incredible content creators. A few standouts for me include:

  • ThePeoplesGuild
  • Aftersound
  • Dwayne Cunningham (Infidel1258)
  • Splinterlands 101 with Bobaphet, Matt Clarke, and Giotrix
  • Bronzedragon
  • Psilence
  • SteveR82

These are just a handful of the vocal and passionate voices on YouTube, and their content has been inspiring and entertaining throughout my journey.

Beyond YouTube, the Discord chats are where I’ve had some of my best interactions. The willingness of this community to help one another, share strategies, and just hang out is unparalleled.

Then there is X where some nice active persons are dropping some love for the game, just a few to follow imho:

  • Goldmatters
  • Bravetofu
  • Ank
  • Dejota.sps

Disclaimer: i could not share my 150 followings of X, if you are not on the list I still love to watch/like/report you posts/videos 🤣

Team Possible Guilds

When I first joined a guild, it was Team Possible Shield Guild, and I immediately discovered how amazing the guild system could be. This group of players welcomed me with open arms and has been incredibly supportive, whether you’re a new player or a long-time veteran.

One of the coolest things about this guild is their weekly Discord voice chat. It’s an open discussion where we talk about everything from game strategies to constructive ideas for improving the community. The best part? You don’t even have to be a guild member to join these chats—just hop into their Discord server.

If you’re looking for a way to connect with like-minded players, share ideas, and talk about the greatness of the game, I highly recommend joining in on these conversations.

The Game

Splinterlands itself is another thing I’m grateful for. The game has so many layers to it—Ranked battles, Brawls, Tournaments, the economic aspects, card collecting, and deck building. There’s always something to keep you engaged.

One of the most underrated aspects of the game is how transparent the developers are. Every month, they host an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session where you can submit your questions directly to the team.

What other game studio does this so consistently? And it’s not just the support staff or marketing team that shows up—it’s the actual game designers, developers, and even the CEO. They’ve been open about the challenges they face, their vision for the future, and the steps they’re taking to improve the game. That kind of involvement is rare and something I truly appreciate.

Hive and Content Creation

My journey with Splinterlands also marked the beginning of my blogging adventure and my discovery of what the Hive platform has to offer. I’m incredibly grateful for this unique space where anyone—no matter how small their following—can write about their passions, share ideas, and earn not just reputation but also monetary rewards. Over time, those small earnings can really add up!

Here’s a chart showing my steady Hive earnings, which have been a great motivator to keep contributing:

Since January this year

What I love most about Hive is how it encourages low-barrier blogging. This has helped me break out of my comfort zone and start blogging regularly about Splinterlands. Over time, it’s become a fun and rewarding habit, and I’ve been able to connect with so many like-minded people through my posts.

That said, I still want to explore more communities on Hive. I follow a few, but I have to admit—I haven’t started blogging outside of the Splinterlands niche yet. Hopefully, I can find some extra time to branch out and discover even more amazing communities.

Closing Notes

And now, let’s end with a fun thought: What would an in-game Splinterlands Thanksgiving look like?

DALL·E version of the splinterlands thanksgiving diner

Picture this: Battle Mages from around the world challenging each other for the grand prize—a magnificent turkey—only to come together in the end and share a piece of the reward.

Small extra I would like a new voucher shop card special "Thanksgiving Chef" who buffs all your allies!

So, what are you thankful for in the world of Splinterlands? Whether it’s the friends you’ve made, the battles you’ve won, or the joy of collecting and strategizing, this game truly gives us all something to be grateful for.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

A special thanks, of course, to @thepeoplesguild for hosting this challenge. I’m excited to see more amazing entries from the community! I truly appreciate everything you do—your engaging podcasts and these fun challenges are yet another reason to be grateful. You’re real ambassadors for the game, and the community is lucky to have you. 🙏

That’s all from me! Enough of the sweetness—time to get back to battling and (hopefully) beating you all on the battlefield! 🤣 I hope you enjoyed reading this post. Cheers!
