OK! My Land Management Sucks!

How to fix it with Barrons Toolbox

As many of you might now that I have 1115 plots: 1 full region (Region # 9; Highmoor, PNW), 1 tract in (Region # 10; Quegmoor, PNW), and 15 plots in Region # 47, Rason Detiir, LOP. I am poorly managing my land, as it was always inevitable. You can take a look at a screenshot from Barron's toolbox to see how I am utilizing some of my magical plots.

  1. I don't have enough DEC to populate all the plots, I have 30% of the plots active.
  2. I don't have good enough cards not only for all plots, but also for my good rare and epic plots.
  3. I hurriedly populated the plots without putting too much toughts into it, so they are not optimized.

NOW WHAT?

Barrons Toolbox to the rescue

I haven't done any spreadsheet optimization before the land release and not planning on doing it future either. First, I am not that serious, and second, I am more of a visual person. So, the first thing that helped me in the "Leaderboard" feature in-game that was pushed out as an update from the team. This helped out figure out "where I belong in my region and in Preatoria". Next thing was for me to understand the relative important of SPS, Research and Grain. I quickly populated all my Occupied (SPS) and Magican (Research) plots, and enough grain farms to feed the workers of those plots. I wrote about my experience here, here and here.

You guys can see my Rare Magical plots above. Let me compare that with some in my region; vcdragon, who has similar land position as me.

This is the first time, I have been able to compare visually how I am doing compared to someone else. I chose VC because his name was familiar and above me in terms of Research point production. Now, there is no reason to compared me, who is currently producing 285.622 Research point/hr (after some of the cruicial upgrades, it was 240/hr a few weeks back!), to someone like Vugtis, who is currently producing 4,229.899 Research points/hr. It is better to compared to VC, who is currently producing 298.605 Research points/hr. Using barrons toolbox, I can quickly turn on just rare magical plots that VC is using to build research hut and compare the same with mine. VCs individual plots are doing 5.3-8.2/hr compared to mine 1.3/hr. That is a big difference!

The other point to think about is why Research?

  1. SPS from occupied all turned on for me
  2. I can always buy SPS, it is cheap, and I speculate will be relatively inexpensive for a while
  3. Grain is just fuel, not a sellable product
  4. There is no way to 'buy' Research. So even it is purple, there is no way to buy purple

I was underperforming on Research in a big way, even on my Epic plots. Here is "before".

Here is "after".

As you can see, I have fixed 3 out of 5 with some of my "for play" beta cards. Obviously more work is needed. However this is a good start.

The Splinterlands

Sort:

So glad to hear that someone with 1000+ plots is finding my Barons Toolbox Land Manager useful! I also have always been a visual person. And was disappointed that in a TCG game like Splinterlands, Visualizing the land cards themselves is a almost useless screen in the game. So i just had to put the Barons Toolbox Spin on it!

You are welcome! This is the first time I have seen something that is unique and no one else have it! I know many others have used your other tools and made many positive comments. However, I think the land tool that you created is absolutely amazing and helps with the management in a fun way. Many thanks.

It is an awesome tool! Thank you for developing it!

You have a lot to manage and the current hourly rate is likely making it rather tedious.

The toolbox looks to have put you back on track though, I'm going for a look, cheers!

Yes, it is definitely not worth my personal hourly rate :)

But hey, I do what I can.

Let me know what you think of it once you try it. I believe its better then Sliced Bread.

So what's the plan, full research? Are you targeting specific cards or just rinsing through what you have left available in your current collection? Since the rebellion Launch, I am still very much preoccupied on ranked but soon will focus towards land. I am using Barons Toolbox for the spinner on streams and guild info, it is a great tool. Thanks Axler!

I got all the Research turned on. It doesn't have good cards, so I will try and improve that.

I was talking to @michealb, we think we are going to use a gold or beta card team (high PP team) to clean up common plots that are not turned on for future. So that we do not have to use time crystal.

This is what I have been doing now, as of a few min ago.

The thing with land is, it is not going anywhere, so I will take my time and build out my plots slowly.

I bought my land late, and I've gradually added more , I'm at my limit for now with 26 plots but only 25% operational

I think I have followed a pattern similar to most ( albeit with much less land than many), and that is, an initial flurry of activity when I used my Runi, best "land cards" and ready DEC to get going. This still left a lot of idle land, but from here on in, its going to be one staked monster at a time as resources allow.

I cannot imagine how much effort and brain power managing so much land would take, but I am sure it is satisfying to watch the enterprise develop.

I do miss my Runi in battles though :-)

I think if you really want to optimize land, it will take a lot of time and effort. However, due to my personal life, I am a 80-20 guy. 80% solution is good enough for me. I do not have the time or patience to get to a 100% or even a 90% solution :)

so how i doing good or bad?

You are doing very good. You were my benchmark, you helped me directly to lift me up from the depth of the abyss! Thank you!

That's really cool. Don't feel too bad about your land. I only have seven plots and I had to readjust my workers about three times before I finally got it where I want it. All the waiting for the three day powerdowns was horrible. I can't even imagine having as many lands as you. I'm glad you found a good tool to handle it.

it is always a work in progress, that part is a good thing.

Not only your land management 😂

Please get lost from my blog, otherwise I will make sure I mute you here as well.

Well, I know you love me and think daily of me, and it is not nice to live rent-free in your mind, so I was thinking to drop you a daily visit. ❤️
