Current State of Splinterlands Market, Time to Panic or Time to Buy? (SPS, DEC, Cards)

in Splinterlands3 years ago

Chaos Legion has quite literally driven the splinterlands market into chaos. SPS and DEC are down nearly 50% from last month currently and card prices for the reward cards and a large % of others has dipped in similar fashion.

What to do?

I am currently keeping all of my sps staked and restaking any SPS reward I get. I cannot let my SPS go for .27 as the potential for that is just exponential. In terms of DEC, I was never holding more than a couple hundred dollars worth. I liquidated mine around .9 into coins to get ready for the pack drop. I am buying more SPS when I can at these prices.

Moving forward

I am going to keep DCA'ing my SPS and get as much as I can around these prices. For newer players who have liquid capital, I do think this is a great entry point and a place where you can stake your SPS for the long haul with 4x potential as you rack up the 40% APR before ranked matches include SPS. I am staying clear of DEC as I am bearish on the token that is pegged at .001, it still has a ways to drop and people will continue to liquidate their holdings in preparation for CL packs.

Buy Cards?

Although prices on cards are great right now and the most affordable they have been since untamed release, I am going to continue to wait on buying cards I need/building decks out. There are still 13 million packs yet to hit the market. My guess is that another 2 million packs get opened in the first week after general sale and the cards will continue to dip as more packs get opened. Once the packs have sold out, I think we will see the market begin to create its holding pattern. Those who wanted to rip packs and put cards on the market will have done so, and those holding for the long term will probably keep their packs sealed until the end of airdrop at minimum. I will be loading up on cards in the first week of the general sale, and although I may not catch the bottom, I believe its a good place to take a position in cards prior to them rising in future months as supply slows and begins to deflate as people level up their new cards. As always this is not financial advice, I am a life long gamer who fell in love with this game and I plan on holding my assets beyond the 5 year mark of when SPS stops printing. Any thoughts, criticisms, or general comments are welcome, best of luck to everyone and play the SL game and market wisely :)
