Welcome Guys!

how to beat op summoner.png

In this post I will share my best strategy to counter Cryptic summoner in modern format. Usually I play only with silver level cards, but I decided to just rent max lvl cards in gold foil to grind little my rank. I was really surprised that I started season with 2k elo rating and now I am over 3.3k

If you are curious how many I pay for rent to play with mostly gold foil cards, you can see on my screen from peakmonsters:

And in total I have over 740k power, which is not much mostly from gold cards.

Strategy

In my opinion water color is most powerful in the game. I always try to play first with water, then with other color, if possible. Of course water is op, because Cryptic can be playable with water and death in the same time. But, when I not have cryptic and rentals rebellion cards are really really expensive especially at max level I decided to find the way to counter Cryptic in my own way :)

This is really simple, mostly Cryptic users want to play with magic to apply expose as fast as possible. That's why I need to use taunt at the back to cover my tank from deadly damage.

As expected I can say. My opponent decided to play with expose and poison. He also get heavy magic damage with bunch of speed and slows just to let me miss many times. Counter for cryptic usually is cleanse, which can recover my lost abilities. Arkemis the bear is great tank, especially with Possibilitus, but is really squishy for long fights versus magic damage. The only way to get him live long as possible is to play with cleanse + heal + with taunt at the back like on this screen. My opponent was not ready to take hybrid damage from my attack and magic. That was enough to kill enemy Arkemis the bear really quickly and then cleanse my Arkemis to get my damage back!

My tank at the back get some damage, but enemies Arkemis is almost down. After that and after some rounds when earthquake made enough damage to shake off the table I was able to still stay versus feeded Runemancer Kye with expose and poison, which can be really dangerous in late game!

image.png

At the end in round 11 I had enough damage to kill this feeded Runemancer Kye. I get a win before the fatigue ruleset. I am really happy that this strategy work well. Of course I need to check this out versus other opponents with max level cards, it should be much difficult to win, but we will see.

After this battle my energy just discharged to 0, so I was not able to play more. Over 16 sps for a win in modern diamond with gold foil cards is decent! I will try to go to diamond 1, before the season end to just start from higher rank than before.

Very nice! Congratulations!

Great tips and strategy! Water is my favorite it too, throughout all of the editions it just has so many options available no matter the ruleset!

Yeah there so many options with new summoners!
But sometimes like in this case, old one work even better!
