Hello, splinter-folks. I hope you all are doing well.

Today, I will share a battle that helped me get into the Silver Leagues. It also portrays a competitive game with a vast difference in abilities. I inadvertently caused this difference because I had stopped playing the game for a while, and my rating in the Modern Leagues had reduced to Bronze. Therefore, I spent the entire day battling until I returned to the Silver Leagues.

Without further ado, let's begin!

Battle Conditions

The mana cap is 37 and there are 5 summoners to choose from: Fire, Water, Nature, Life, and Death.

Battle Rules:-

  • Fog Of War: Monsters lose the Sneak, Opportunity, and Snipe abilities.

Keeping the moderately high mana cap and the battle rule, I chose Death summoner as it had monsters with high speed with high HP and it would give me high leveled monsters in this low-tier battle.

Let's start from my side:

Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in HP and Magic damage for all enemy monsters by 1)(Level 5).

Tank: Cursed Windeku(Ability: Thorns, Heal).

Melee Attacker: Arachne Thug(Ability: Reach, Trample).

Ranged Attackers: Ravenhood Warden(Ability: Shatter), Dhampir Stalker(Ability: True Strike, Deahblow).

Magic Attackers: Venari Bonesmith(Ability: Life Leech, Poison), Kain Hace(Ability: Blast, Deflection).

My strategy was to have my most prized attacker, Kain, in the back of the deck and all other monsters with equal or lower damage fight in the front, protecting him until they all fell. So, I used monsters that would guarantee damage while I took a chance with a beast that had shatter Ability. I hoped he would use a monster with a high shield and in one fell swoop I would instantly break it up. I used a tank that could both heal and cause thorns damage when physically challenged therefore it showed high promise of survival.

My overall damage per round is 15 with 3 healing. Adding in the damage from thorns, poison, and blast it comes to 21 damage per round. Counting in deathblow for the last fighter unit, it would come to 25 damage for that round.

Now, for the opposition's turn:

Summoner: Keyla Frendrul(Ability: Increase in Speed and Shield by 1 for all ally monsters)(Gold Foil Level 2)

Tank: Oshannus(Ability: Void).

Melee Attacker: Flying Squid(Ability: Reach*).

Ranged Attackers: Swamp Spitter(Ability: Repair), Wave Brood(Ability: Taunt, Close Range).

Magic Attacker: Spirit Hoarder(Ability: Triage).

His strategy was to direct all incoming damage toward his Wave while his high-speed tank would have a high chance of dodging incoming enemy tank's attack. And, he also put a healer and a repairer to look out for Wave should it's HP fall. Lastly, he used a monster behind the tank to further add to the damage to my tank.

His overall damage per round is 9 with 3 healing and 2 shield repairs.

Major Events

Round 1

At the end of the first round, the first guy to fall was his healer thanks to the blast damage.

Round 3

Screenshot (2291).png

His taunt user fell in the second round. Then came the first blow in my deck, my tank fell as it could not keep up with the incoming damage it received.

Then, his tank fell in the final third of the round, making it a swift 2 V 5.

Later, at the end of the round, his Flying Squid fell while my other monsters were comfortable with the damage they were receiving.

Round 4

At the end of the round, his Spitter fell thanks to my Bonesmith as it siphoned its final HP.

Results

I knew the game was over the moment I saw that he had used a taunt user beside his healer. Should that user survive the first round, the healer and the other monsters would get the blast damage if the poison and other forms of damage did not do it. Lastly, I kept my overall damage high even though I knew no one was crazy enough to have an insanely high-level deck in the bronze leagues.
