In this video, I cover the 5 biggest topics that stood out to me the most during the most recent Splinterlands town hall for January 16th, 2025.
Here are the main takeaways:
- Upcoming timelines
Survival Mode - soon/next
Land 1.75 - March
Conclave Arcana Pre-Sale - April
Glamour - pushed to Q2
- Campaign Mode / Leaderboard Updates
This will initially be a PVE type of mode for new players to learn basics about the game, from combat to card combining. The team is hoping this will eventually be able to be expanded into more campaigns for existing players and a fuller PVE experience regardless of how long you've been in the game. The team will also introduce a Foundation set that will consist of soulbound cards you can open from packs paid for in Glint. This allows F2P players to have a full experience opening packs and building a deck without buying anything in the game.
There will also be some leaderboard updates to reward those in lower leagues based on where you start the season. More info will come soon on this.
- New Game Mechanic in Conclave Arcana
While Rebellion introduced Tactics as well as dual-element summoners, it looks like Conclave Arcana will continue to build upon the game mechanics for Splinterlands by adding in something new. The only hint we've been given is that it will allow new cards to synergize with old (those in Wild Format). I'm sure' we'll hear more as we approach the release date.
- Land 1.75 updates
Cryptomancer is back from vacation and continuing his work on Land 1.75. As of now, there are no planned changes to grain consumption and production as the team had indicated back in December. After looking through the data, it seems they feel comfortable leaving things as is. Also, conflict wagon cost and repair is TBD as well as Matt would like to include land resources as a part of this for when the next set launches.
- Card Changes Confirmed If Proposal Passes
I was actually a little surprised to hear Matt say that he would automatically honor the changes to card stats if the proposal passed. Obviously, the change for Nidhoggr did not pass but it was closer than I would have expected. I know these types of decisions ultimately rest with the team but it was interesting to hear that Matt would lean heavily on community sentiment for something as major as a stat change. Take your proposals seriously!
Overall, there wasn't too much new information in this Town Hall - and if there was we don't have the details yet. I still think 2025 is going to be a very fun year for Splinterlands so let's hope the team can start knocking out releases sooner than later!

Nothing about marketing? I know everyone is buying new meme coins Trump and Melania, but once that tops out the real altcoin pump might start. Would be great if they were ready with major marketing push if gaming narrative becomes hot again.
The biggest issue for me is the thing about the proposals for card changes. I don't want to pay $200 or more for a card that ends up getting nerfed. This should never be a thing in crypto and web3. Why am I bothering with "real ownership" people can vote to change cards?
