Alma's night walk
It was seven thirty and although the afternoon was cold, Alma took her jacket and went out for a walk, bored of staring at the screen where movies and inconsequential programs were playing, but so early to go to bed. She took the street that leads to the park next to the train track, where so many people gather on sunny days, but today and at this time it would be empty, except for some pedestrian who crossed it on his way to his destination. When she turned the corner she was surprised by the warm light that illuminated the place at the time when dusk was approaching and thought about the good work that the municipality was doing, restoring the parks and squares of the city. But the light did not come from the streetlights, but rather it filtered through the clouds, creating a clear and warm luminescence that cushioned the cold of the southern wind, which she says comes directly from the South Pole itself, frosting La Pampa and the Andean peaks. Although the square was full of benches, empty at this hour, Alma felt an irresistible impulse and approached to sit on the only bench occupied by a young man of a certain height and pleasant appearance, although his gaze reflected an imprecise age. A look difficult to classify, sometimes he smiled with the spark of a baby discovering the world. And instantly he passed through you as if discovering the last and profound thought still in formation. Sitting, he in the middle of the bench and Alma at one end, they looked at each other and with an imperceptible nod, they greeted each other approvingly. They did not say a word, they just looked at each other and remained silent until darkness invaded the space and the electric lamps became noticeable. Alma and he got up at the same time, said good night to each other and set off in opposite directions. The dark night enveloped Alma on her way back, he did not say a word, as so many times he remained silent. At least, this time, he let himself be seen.
[MY PERSONAL VISION OF THE WORLD]
