I have been ill for the past week and my bestie who is currently out of Spain, informed me that there is some nasty cold spreading around like a wildfire and people are ending up in hospital.
I have asthma and it's guaranteed that each and every flu that I catch will automatically just land in my lungs. Usually I can just fight them off in a couple days and continue my life.
But this morherfucker did not give up so easily and when I woke up one morning feeling that icy cold sensation in my lungs, I knew that I needed cortisone asap.
I just did not want to go to a doctor because they never want to write it in here as my medical history is in Finland, and I do not need any ongoing medication in here as the Mediterranean weather keeps the symptoms at bay as long as I keep my home dust free and don't go to any dusty places like fabric stores or stables.
So that being said I just went to to my local pharmacy.
"Hi, I have bronchitis, I would need cortisone tablets, but I do not have doctor's prescription for it"
The man looked confused. "Why don't you just take something that opens your chest?"
"I have asthma"
And just like that I got my pills. He only asked the dosage and the medicine name that I used in Finland (exactly same in here) and if I needed anything else.
7€ please!
Now after couple days of cortisone pills and frozen pizza I have to go to doctor since I'm not getting better. I have still infected lungs and life is shit. I do not want to double the dosage without her consent.
I will probably get a lecture from my doctor about self medicating, but at least I have not ended up taking hospital bed and I see that as a big plus.
I have not been able to work for a week, and as I'm freelancer, no one is not going to pay my sick leave. But luckily I do have my videogame side hustle and I have sold this week 70€ worth of games and that will cover my groceries.
Thank god for the frozen food isle as I just don't have budget for takeaway food.
At least I don't have to worry about medical bill as I pay monthly 300€ of social security and I'm entitled to free healthcare.
Life can be pretty challenging as single woman, but at least it makes me realize that if I can survive this, I can survive almost anything.
Yay! 🤗

Visiting the doctor is annoying and can be a hassle, but it's a victory when you can stay out of the hospital.
I don't know much about asthma, so I can't recommend anything for treating it. I went to LeoThreads to seek feedback now that people from the communities associated with natural medicine are posting threads.
In the meantime, I went searching for information about treating asthma naturally; this is my query:
I'll leave it to you to see which of the search results looks promising to you. Doctors are necessary when you need them, but until then you should have ways of handling things on your own and without a pharmacy/apothecary.
It's good having a side hustle which adds to your positive cash flow. This is why we build, and BUIDL.
I hope you feel better soon.
