Some Thoughts on Life in the Digital Age

It's a weird world we're seeing. Nothing makes sense. Money printer go brrrr, and stocks go up. Money printer shutoff, and entire market panics. Money printer continues to go brrrr, and we haven't seen the same hyperinflation that's been building up in so-called "developing" countries, which is actually a pretty offensive thing to say, because technology has raised the standard of living for billions of people, and leveled the playing field for a lot of global commerce.

I studied foreign high-growth stocks for much of the past 5-6 years, and noticed that the same business models were being deployed all over the world, to facilitate commerce between customers and online marketplaces, creating transportation networks, the whole nine yards. Payments have always been an issue for websites, and fiat FX rigging has been an issue for small businesses trying to go the global route.

I've also seen the explosion of e-commerce, mobile payments, cryptocurrencies, delivery services, and "neo-banking" all over the world, and everything is going digital.

Public libraries are getting de-funded and rid of physical books in favor of digital e-books and other online resources. As a kid, I used public databases through a school program, but now everyone has smart phones - so why should they care about books?

Weird world we're living in. If you see something happen over and over again, aren't you supposed to realize what's actually going on? If riots break out in multiple countries at the same time, that's a sign of something bigger going on. Riots broke out in the US in 2020 and 2021. Funny how you don't see any in 2022, or this year.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Someone gave the word, and it ended, just as abruptly as it started. Destroyed property that wasn't theirs, to prove a point maybe? Lemme go ahead and point out that burning and then subsequently looting an Apple Store, which is insured, doesn't lead to a positive outcome.

People commit acts of violence and then wonder why nothing changes after they do so. It's kind of ironic that it comes naturally to so many people. When you see people enraged by the thing of the day, just going bananas on that corner shoes store...really makes you wonder.

There is so much division and tribalism in this Walled Garden Duopoly. Apple & Google competing on control over software on mobile devices. Apple selling their iMAC for $583.25/month for 12 months or $6999.
