Ethan's Doubts-Part 1

Five years after the events of the book

Ethan's mind is full of doubts, nothing new about him, really, actually the only odd thing would be if he doubted nothing and was sure of everything.

Although to tell the truth, Ethan doesn't dislike the idea of having doubts that much. He even considers it a good thing, for certain reasons.

Even though he has doubts about a great many things, there is one thing about which he is certain, and that is the fact that he went to that mental institution.

One of the few decisions in his life in which he knows he got it right.

All those doubts, those fears, the guilt. Ethan needed help, all that wasn't going to go away just by ignoring it like he once tried to do.

Five years since that happened, and now Ethan is trying to get his life back together.

College life is hard, but it's nothing Ethan can't deal with.

Two jobs to pay for college, and between that and college jobs he barely has enough time to get a couple of hours of sleep. Little sleep, just what someone like him needs.

Anyway.

After walking around for a while, Ethan walks in the door of a coffee shop, and what he finds there delights him.

Industrial decor, people chatting animatedly, the smell of cocoa and coffee permeating the air. God, Ethan wouldn't know what to do without that smell.

With a smile, sincere unlike the ones he's good at faking, he walks over to one of the tables and takes a seat, grabbing a menu and waiting for a waiter to arrive to serve him.

After a few minutes, a waitress appears, dressed entirely in black, with black shoes and a gray apron around her waist. Her shirt has short sleeves and her hair is blonde and straight, with emerald green eyes.

The girl approaches smiling with a notebook and a pencil to jot down notes. Ethan smiles back, what a nice girl. Ethan is great at recognizing when someone is faking, this girl is not.

-What would you like to order," the girl asks cheerfully.

With a smile, Ethan replies, "A vanilla latte, please.

She writes down the order in the notebook.

-Vanilla latte," after writing down the order, the girl looks at Ethan and says, "I'll bring your order as soon as possible.

Ethan nods and the girl goes to bring his order.

As Ethan is lost in thought, a person sits in the chair across from him.

Ethan tenses, for the guy sitting across from him is none other than the person he agreed to meet at that place.

The boy who has an incredible facility to make darkness blossom in Ethan, the one to whom Ethan can provoke sensations that others could not: Aiden.

Las dudas de Ethan–Parte 1

Cinco años después de los acontecimientos del libro

Ciudad de Nueva York

Ethan tiene la mente llena de dudas, nada nuevo en él, realmente, en realidad lo único raro sería que no dudara de nada y estuviera seguro de todo.

Aunque a decir verdad, a Ethan no le desagrada tanto la idea de tener dudas. Hasta lo considera algo bueno, por ciertas razones.

Incluso teniendo dudas sobre muchísimas cosas, hay algo sobre lo cual sí que tiene certeza, y eso es el hecho de haber ido a ese psiquiátrico.

Una de las pocas decisiones en su vida en la cual él sabe que acertó.

Todas esas dudas, esos miedos, la culpa. Ethan necesitaba ayuda, todo eso no iba a desaparecer solo con ignorarlo como él alguna vez lo intentó.

Cinco años desde que aquello sucedió, y ahora Ethan está intentando rehacer su vida.

La vida universitaria es dura, pero no es nada con lo que Ethan no pueda lidiar.

Dos trabajos para poder pagar la Universidad, y entre eso y los trabajos universitarios apenas tiene tiempo suficiente para dormir un par de horas. Dormir poco, justo lo que alguien como él necesita.

En fin.

Luego de caminar un rato, Ethan entra por la puerta de una cafetería, y lo que encuentra en ella le encanta.

Decoración industrial, personas charlando animadamente, el olor a cacao y café invadiendo el aire. Dios, Ethan no sabría que hacer sin ese olor.

Con una sonrisa, sincera a diferencia de las que es bueno fingiendo, se acerca a una de las mesas y toma asiento, tomando un menú y esperando que llegue algún mesero a atenderlo.

Luego de unos minutos, aparece una mesera vestida enteramente de negro, con zapatos del mismo color y un delantal de color gris alrededor de la cintura. Su camisa tiene mangas cortas y su cabello es rubio y liso, ojos color verde esmeralda.

La chica se acerca sonriente con una libreta y un lápiz para anotar. Ethan le devuelve la sonrisa, que chica tan agradable. A Ethan se le da de maravilla reconocer cuando alguien finge, esta chica no.

–¿Qué le gustaría ordenar?–pregunta la chica alegremente.

Con una sonrisa, Ethan responde–Un latte de vainilla, por favor.

Ella anota el pedido en la libreta.

–Latte de vainilla,–luego de anotar el pedido, la chica mira a Ethan y dice–traeré su pedido lo antes posible.

Ethan asiente y la chica se va a traer su pedido.

Mientras Ethan se pierde en sus pensamientos, una persona se sienta en la silla que está frente a él.

Ethan se tensa, pues el chico sentado frente a él es nada más ni nada menos que la persona con la que acordó reunirse en ese lugar.

El chico que tiene una facilidad increíble para hacer florecer la oscuridad en Ethan, aquel al que Ethan puede provocar sensaciones que otros no pudieron: Aiden.
