“Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously.”
― Hunter S. Thompson
It doesn't pay to take life too seriously, nobody makes it out alive. That's not to say there's not occasions that call for serious, but you've got to have some serious perspective to go with it. Seems like everyone is always running around on serious business, so much so that it takes on the air of the seriously absurd.
If you ain't careful, it'll raise your blood pressure higher than that railroad bridge over the canal entrance. It has always baffled and bemused me, we humans take ourselves so seriously and yet are such unserious creatures.
So enthralled with technology and things, so much so that we manufacture mountains of it. Proud of it too. For all our worshipping at the feet of the GDP gods, we've yet to figure out that there's no such thing as 'away'.
Our obsession with borders is another good example. A figment of our collective imaginations, we attempt to impose possession upon a planet indifferent to it. We'll kill you or lock you in a cage over'em, but good look finding a wild one.
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign. . . Fort Knox is off limits to a lot more than firewood cutting. Saw no sign of gold or leprechauns there, just a waterfall. At least we ain't dying for Sasquatch.
This post is in serious danger of taking itself too seriously and my ride's here, so I will catch y'all next year! Be safe out there and have a good'un!
Have a nice year @coloneljethro :)
You too my friend, hope yours is a good one :)
