Group W Bench Reunion

Congratulations Jethro, you're not in jail! It's once again that time of year where I look back, reflect, and celebrate. On this night 14 years ago I was drunk, homeless, and staggering down the sidewalk in a snowstorm until an LMPD officer decided to slap on a set of handcuffs and take me to jail. This insult didn't sit particularly well with me, and while they were trying to figure out how to book someone who refused to give a name I figured out how to get the door of the holding cage open. When the cop that arrested me left to go harass more people I took the opportunity to pop open the holding cage and bolt out the jail door before it closed behind him.

Sadly, drunken ice running is not my specialty and I didn't make it very far before I fell and the cops that'd given chase caught up and carried me back into the jail. That brief taste of freedom cost me a felony escape charge and a host of others you get when you make the cops mad. Even got the 'giving an officer a false name' charge despite refusing to give a name. The felony and most of the other stuff was eventually dropped but the old 'fleeing and evading' stuck, earned me a 30 day stay in the world's worst rehab. And by rehab I mean jail.

That was an experience that usually I'd rather not remember but I've not had a drink of alcohol in the years since, so on the anniversary of that night I make an exception. Have plenty of stories but they're best saved for another time and place, this is a more reflective occasion.

Lately I've been more than a little stressed, there's a possibility I could have to move away from Louisville, which is not something I relish the thought of. Wasn't on my bingo card at all, been struggling with reconciling myself with the thought of it. Still working on it. Even if my worst fears come true it'll still be better than the situation I found myself in 14 years ago. Anyways, it's been 14 Years but not like that, about the opposite in fact.
