Quiero hablarles de mis experiencias con la comunidad docente. Para insertarme en la docencia debí romper muchas barreras personales, entre ellas la timidez que de alguna manera frenaba mi desarrollo profesional. Esta maravillosa comunidad @holosLotus me ofrece la oportunidad de contarles cuanto hacen las mujeres cubanas de nuestros días para lograr su equilibrio emocional.

This wonderful community @holosLotus offers me the opportunity to tell you how much Cuban women today do to achieve their emotional balance. I want to talk to you about my experiences with the teaching community. To enter teaching I had to break many personal barriers, among them shyness that somehow slowed down my professional development.

Hace dos años me propusieron llevar los temas sociales y culturales que escribo en mi página web https://lascosasdeiris.wordpress.com/ a los alumnos de la carrera Trabajo Social. Medité sobre las emociones que me dominaban al hablar frente a públicos en presentación de exposiciones o trabajos de investigación, en evaluaciones curriculares o en la televisión y asumí el riesgo porque sería una vía de crecimiento mutuo.

Two years ago I was asked to bring the social and cultural topics that I write about on my website https://lascosasdeiris.wordpress.com/ to the students of the Social Work degree. I meditated on the emotions that dominated me when speaking in front of audiences in presentations of exhibitions or research papers, in curricular evaluations or on television and I took the risk because it would be a way for mutual growth.

El primer encuentro fue como un bálsamo porque advertí que el grupo estaba compuesto por diez mujeres. El trabajo social es una obra que requiere sensibilidad y entrega infinita, ellas no trabajan solo las ocho horas reglamentadas lidiando con los problemas de grupos vulnerables sino con sus propios problemas en una sociedad que impone desafíos sobre todo a las mujeres.

The first meeting was like a balm because I realized that the group was made up of ten women. Social work is a work that requires sensitivity and infinite dedication, they not only work the eight regulated hours dealing with the problems of vulnerable groups but with their own problems in a society that imposes challenges, especially on women.

Conocí el universo de cada una de las jovenes: hijos pequeños y adolescentes; esposos, padres, abuelos ancianos y sus propios intereses como ente sociales.
El pleno desarrollo de la mujer en medio de un panorama frágil en el orden económico y social, les genera estrés; primeramente por el reto de garantizar, muchas de ellas, el sustento para su familia por ser madres solteras, luego la incertidumbre de sus hijos incertos en una sociedad cambiante que no les ofrece seguridad ante amenazas que otrora se creían desaparecidas y que vuelven como ráfagas a inundar la sociedad: violencia, vicios y manejos inescrupulosos de otros sobre los menores.

I got to know the universe of each of the young women: young children and teenagers; husbands, fathers, elderly grandparents and their own interests as social entities. The full development of women in the midst of a fragile economic and social panorama generates stress; firstly because of the challenge of guaranteeing, for many of them, sustenance for their family because they are single mothers, then the uncertainty of their uncertain children in a changing society that does not offer them security in the face of threats that were once believed to have disappeared and that return like bursts to flood society: violence, vices and unscrupulous handling of minors by others.

Todo ello constituyó la base para replantearme las necesidades de un grupo de mujeres jóvenes ávidas de distracción y elementos culturales que las enfocaron en la grandeza de su oficio a la vez que les ofrezca asideros para su sostén emocional.
Así visitamos galerías, centros culturales, presentaciones de libros, encuentros con personalidades de la cultura y artistas, recorridos por la ciudad; de modo que las experiencias en estos intercambios nutren su intelecto y disipan las aprensiones.

All of this formed the basis for rethinking the needs of a group of young women eager for distraction and cultural elements that focused them on the greatness of their profession while offering them support for their emotional support. Thus we visited galleries, cultural centers, book presentations, meetings with cultural personalities and artists, tours of the city; so that the experiences in these exchanges nourish their intellect and dispel apprehensions.

Uno de los encuentros memorables fue el que tuvieron estas jóvenes con tres mujeres profesionales de la comunicación: Ana Ibis Fonseca, locutora de la radio; Waldina Almaguer realizadora de audiovisuales y Yelaine Martínez, periodista. Las invitadas expusieron los avatares y desafíos de sus profesiones ante su condición de mujeres, madres, esposas, hijas.

One of the memorable encounters was the one these young women had with three women communications professionals: Ana Ibis Fonseca, radio host; Waldina Almaguer, audiovisual director and Yelaine Martínez, journalist. The guests explained the vicissitudes and challenges of their professions in light of their status as women, mothers, wives, daughters.

Algunas tenían la timidez que en algún momento me acompañó, el encuentro con Jorge Luis Smith en su exposición de dibujos, les brindó la posibilidad de poner en práctica los elementos culturales de la localidad que habíamos visto en las aulas.
Uno de los encuentros más emotivos fue en la Escuela Especial para niños con discapacidad, nutrimos el encuentro con nuestros donativos, la actuación del trovador Jesús Pérez Cecilis y allí entre canciones y relatos, preguntas y valoraciones daban las coordenadas de un método bien diseñado.

Some had the shyness that accompanied me at some point; the meeting with Jorge Luis Smith at his exhibition of drawings gave them the possibility of putting into practice the cultural elements of the town that we had seen in the classrooms. One of the most emotional meetings was at the Special School for children with disabilities, we nourished the meeting with our donations, the performance of the troubadour Jesús Pérez Cecilis and there between songs and stories, questions and evaluations gave the coordinates of a well-designed method.

En cada encuentro las jóvenes pudieron visibilizar que la sociedad es un entramado de acontecimientos e historias que unas veces difieren, otras coinciden para dejarles enseñanzas y riquesa espiritual. Quedaron también, lazos de una hermosa amistad.

In each meeting the young women were able to make visible that society is a network of events and stories that sometimes differ, other times coincide to leave them lessons and spiritual wealth. There were also ties of a beautiful friendship.
