Introduction
Perhaps you have heard that Splinterlands are diversifying their portfolio into major sports, i.e. football. basketball, baseball etc. They are developing their own blockchain sports ecosystem with all major sports in mind. Their first product is going to be ‘Genesis League Soccer’ (GLS) in partnership with the Major League Soccer Players Association (MLSPA). I am sure it will gain some traction as U.S.A. has just advanced into the last 16.
On the other side of the globe, Ultimate Champions (UC) has been doing very well since their launch in April 2022. It's a fantasy football game based on real world match results every week.
Ultimate Champions
The game runs on Polygon and their main token is $champ. You can join the game for free by creating an account. There is an in-game Marketplace where you can buy/sell any non-common cards.
Leagues that have joined UC are:
- Premier League (UK)
- Championship (UK) S
- League One (UK)
- Scottish Premiership (Scotland)
- Ligue 2 (France)
- Ligue 1 (France)
- Liga I România All 16 clubs
Note that not all teams of the above leagues have signed up but they are constantly making negotiations to try to bring more clubs to the ecosystem. To date, the two most high profile clubs who have joined are Arsenal from the Premier League and Bayer Leverkusen from Bundesliga.
During off-season, real games are substituted by virtual games. You can create your own league to play with friends.
Pack Drops
There are pack drops every Thursday. Packs are usually limited to 1 or 2 per account and there are better value packs for new managers. Multi-accounting will be banned.
Conclusion
I have been playing for a few months and loved it. Although I am not a whale and only have a couple of epic cards, I managed to get to number one in one occasion.
This is a very good game and UC have a very bright future ahead of them.
