The 'Away Teams' feature has had significant progress made this week, with a screenshot being posted in the development-log on Discord. I am very happy with how it looks, and am excited to learn how the different stats affect different missions. Especially morale, it was teased in a bit of the card descriptions but I don't think we've had concrete confirmation that it is a stat until yesterday. Good thing I brought some Happy Soda with me!

Generating resources would be the most obvious way to use land assets... I can't think of anything else though. Are land assets going to be a thing in Exode? Do you have any other resources for learning more about Exode (like what's in the works, etc)? I don't have a whole lot of time to look into news, so I'm probably way behind on what's up with Exode... :(

Land assets are purely speculation at this point. The best way to find out more about EXODE is to read the official-news and/or development-log channels in the Discord server. You can also check the developer's page, @elindos for important announcements.

I am thinking that planets are the land asset in EXODE. My first planet has 6 mineral resources and 4-6 animal resources. These resources will be used to generate building materials to build habitats, spaceships, and sell on the market.

Fair enough. I was thinking of another land asset class other than the planets with more exclusivity. I would think that many people agree with your perspective.

I would like to see it as some kind of sector/solar system. You got your main planet which is already determined by gameplay and the rest of the sector/solar system could give you additional boosts/bonus on certain stats. e.g. it could boost production or another planet stat

I love the idea of this! Owning a sector/solar system is also a great solution. Maybe the owner(s) could gain benefits based on how many players currently own/operate planets in their sector/solar system. Especially if you could choose what got boosted. That's an awesome idea.

By 'Land Assets' I mean anything similar to how Splinterlands (and other blockchain games) have sold portions of land that can mint resources and provides other benefits.

So are we getting Land assets in Exode? Possibly like in Splinterlands?

I'm gonna have to catch up.

Ironically I'm a bit time short due to real land issues - I've got I dont' know how many tonnes of firewood to chop and store before it starts raining in a couple of weeks, and a roof to fit today.

But a start would be a nice pre-sale so I can go in HARD!

I don't think there is confirmation that we will get it yet, this is purely speculation at the moment.

Answering my own question, not counting myself in the giveaway of course;
I know the idea of a "Land Asset" (other than the planets themselves) has been talked about a few times in the Discord server, but I would really like to hear more about the Starbases idea that someone mentioned. Essentially, players would be able to purchase/own portions of or an entire Starbase that would provide them with some benefits. I think that's a great thematic solution to satisfy both the people who want to own land and the people who want everything to fit the theme/lore of the game. I would love to hear more about this topic in the next episode of Elindos Records.

I think land assets should provide raw resources that could be refined or combined to make additional things, such as crude weapons or armor. The could also have various function based on structures placed on the land, such as research pods, greenhouses, smelting facilities, ect. Harvesting the land and using those resources would add some value to the plots, as well as being able to build structures to boots stats via research to boost mechanics, security, diplomacy, ect... you could tie the max population of a settlement to the land size + number of living quarters, for example

Since you already have planets, and land is a smaller object than a planet, maybe something bigger than a planet, like a galaxy or a vector of space. Or something altogether different , such as a space station.

I always like to see land assets provide resources over time. So make it to where we can own planets and different planets would provide a different break-down of resource it provides, which would also be based on rarity level.
