Holozing Fan Art - Panyang Drawing [ENG-ESP]

Hello dear Holozing friends, I hope you are all doing well and especially that you have a wonderful start to the new year 2026, full of many ideas and creativity. This time, I want to share my first contribution of the year to the Holozing community: a drawing of the character Panyang, a more powerful evolution of Panyin. It's a panda eye symbolized by the Yin and Yang. I created this drawing using gray cardstock to achieve a 3D effect by blending the colors well. Here's a brief step-by-step guide to the process. Let's begin!

Hola queridos amigos de Holozing, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien y que especialmente tengan un buen comienzo de año nuevo 2026, lleno de muchas ideas y creatividad. En esta oportunidad quiero compartir mi primer aporte del año para la comunidad de Holozing, dibujando al personaje Panyang una evolución más poderosa de Panyin, es un ojo panda el cual tiene como símbolo del Ying y el Yang. Este dibujo lo realizó utilizando cartulina de color gris para poder hacer un efecto de 3D mezclando muy bien los colores, aquí les presentamos de una forma breve como ha sido el proceso paso a paso, ¡comencemos!

PROCESS

At the beginning, I mentioned that the material for this drawing is gray cardstock. Since it's a somewhat dark background, it's easier to add color and create effects like 3D. So, instead of using a pencil for the sketch, I start with white charcoal, outlining the entire sketch and shaping the face first, and then the rest of the body.

Al inicio había mencionado que el material para hacer este dibujo es cartulina gris, al ser un fondo algo oscuro es más fácil darle más color y a crear efectos como el de 3D. Así que en lugar de utilizar lápiz para el boceto, comienzo utilizando carboncillo de color blanco, así voy delimitando todo el boceto, dando forma al rostro principalmente y luego al resto del cuerpo.

After applying a first layer of white paint to give the drawing its shape, I begin adding color. I use a range of browns, from lightest to darkest, to define the ears and the dark markings around the eyes that give it such a cute look.

Luego de una primera capa de color blanco con la cual le hemos dando una forma al dibujo, voy agregando color al dibujo. El color que voy utilizando es una gama de color café, desde el más claro al más oscuro, así voy dando forma a las orejas y también a las manchas oscuras que tiene en los ojos y que le dan ese aspecto tan tierno.

I gradually added color to the eyes to make them more vibrant and realistic. Instead of using a white colored pencil, I applied white paint directly, which greatly enhanced the realism. I also painted the inner part of the eye, like the retina, and continued down the face, adding color to the nose and mouth. Up to this point, I was quite pleased with how my drawing was turning out.

Poco a poco voy agregando color en los ojos, para que estos quedaran más vivos y realistas, en lugar de utilizar el lápiz de color blanco le puse directamente pintura blanca, esto ayudó mucho a darle más realismo. Asimismo pinte el interior como la retina y así continué por el rostro, agregando color a la nariz y a la boca. Hasta este momento me iba gustando el resultado de mi dibujo.

Using the same color palette, I then begin painting parts of the body, this time the neck and chest, including the arms. I use small, quick lines to clearly show Panyang's fur.

Con la misma gama de colores entonces voy pintando ya parte del cuerpo, en esta oportunidad se trata del cuello y del pecho, incluyendo también los brazos. La forma de hacer el trazo es de l´neas pequeñas y rápidas, lo que busco es que se pueda apreciar bien el pelaje de Panyang.

Next, I paint the middle part of Panyang's body, where the enormous Yin and Yang symbol is. To do this, I invert the colors I have used so far, using white at the top and the brown tones I had been using at the bottom.

Luego toca pintar la parte intermedia del cuerpo de Panyang, donde está el enorme símbolo del Ying y el Yang, para hacerlo lo que hago es invertir los colores que hasta ahora he utilizado, utilizando el blanco en la parte superior y en la parte inferior los tonos de color marrón que había venido utilizando.

To finish my drawing, I use a technique that gives it a better finish. Here, I use a brush soaked in mineral oil. The oil acts as a solvent, blending each of the subtle colors together. And so, little by little, Panyang's fur begins to appear everywhere.

Para finalizar mi dibujo utilizo la técnica con la cual hago que el acabado se vea mejor, aquí utilizo un pincel empapado con aceite mineral, el aceite actúa como un disolvente que hace mezclar cada uno de los colore sutilizados. Así poco a poco en todas partes va apareciendo el pelaje de Panyang.

FINAL WORK

What do you think of the result? Without a doubt, the technique of blending with a brush and oil paint gives a better and deeper finish, as the colors become brighter and blend together. We can then add more layers of color if desired, giving the drawing more volume and contrast. I hope you liked it; this is my first contribution of the year. ¿Qué les ha parecido el resultado? sin duda, con la técnica de difuminar con pincel y aceite, el acabado es mejor y mas profundo, ya que los colores se tornan más brillantes y se mezclan entre ellos. Luego podemos agregar más capas de colores si así uno lo desea, de esta manera el dibujo alcanza más volumen y contraste.
