3D Cinella! (#1) - Holozing Fanart [EN/ES]

A weekee-greeting to all Hivers! I've been lately checking on the Holozing game development updates, specially taking a look to all the new creatures that eventually came out.

¡Un weekee-saludo a todos los Hivers! He estado últimamente viendo las últimas actualizaciones del desarrollo de Holozing, especialmente chequeando las criaturas que han salido con el paso del tiempo.

The little ladybug Cinella called my attention because it seemed really fun to model in 3D, so I gave it a try :D

Over a year ago I made Wrackoo, Walle and Miu Holozing creatures in 3D, when I was still learning the basics of the Blender software. Now I get better results and it's easier for me to use the controls. I really liked the result of this one :3

La pequeña mariquita llamada Cinella llamó mi atención y deseo de modelarla en 3D porque sentía que iba a ser divertido, entonces lo intenté :D

Hace alrededor de un año atrás modelé en 3D las criaturas Wrackoo, Walle y Miu cuando estaba aún aprendiendo las bases del software Blender. Ahora logro mucho mejores resultados y me es más fácil usar los controles del programa. Personalmente me gustó mucho como quedó este modelo :3

I began by making a simple cube mesh round and slowly started adding complexity to it to make the shape of the body.

Comencé redondeando una malla de un cubo muy sencilla a la que luego le agregué de poco a poco complejidad para hacer la forma del cuerpo.

I didn't add extra meshes, just worked on the same one for the whole model except for the eyes and anthenas.

No añadí mallas ni figuras externas, el modelo completo es una sola malla excepto por los ojos y antenas.

Then I added basic materials with the main colors.

Luego añadí materiales básicos con los colores principales.

Made four holes in the geometry for the paws. This was the hardest part of the process, because the mesh needed to keep simple and topologically correct and at the same time be able to bend correctly when adding the armature and bones in the future...

Hice cuatro hoyos en la parte de abajo de la geometría para empezar a extruir las patas de la malla. Esta fue la parte más complicada del proceso pues la malla tenía que persistir simple, topológicamente correcta y funcional para que se deforme cuando en un futuro le ponga rigging al modelo...

After an hour of struggling with the paws, I added the eyes and anthenas.

Después de una hora trabada con las patas le añadí los ojos y las antenas.

The only thing left was what gives it the Ladybug identity.

Lo único que le quedaba al modelo era lo que le daba la identidad de mariquita.

I managed to add the spots in a ingenious way. Using spheres being projected on the surface of the body I could edit with ease the position of each spot if I didn't like it.

Logré añadir las manchas de una manera ingeniosa. Usando esferas proyectadas en la superficie del cuerpo podía con facilidad modificar el tamaño y posición de cada una por separado si no me gustaba.

And the model was almost done! Just needed some materials' work because they looked a bit like plastic. I added the lights and the camera for the showcase and after some little last mesh fixes for perfection everything was ready for rendering.

¡El modelo estaba casi listo en este punto! Solo necesitaba trabajar con los materiales para que dejara de parecer una mariquita de plástico. Añadí las luces y una cámara para hacer la rotación de muestra y luego de minúsculos y casi imperceptibles arreglos de la malla por ansiedad de perfeccionista todo estaba listo para el renderizado.

Just a classic Holo-glow effect added in post-rendering and this is the final result!

¡Solo un clásico efecto de Holo-brillo añadido en la fase de post-renderizado y así quedó!

I do not make 3D models professionally, but I empirically learned to make models, rigs and animations in Blender. I've spent some time of my short life getting deeper into the software and polishing my skills!

Is designing your career path in the future? I think your models, particularly this one looks solid!

I will study Pure Mathematics as a career (starting on September) but I surely will dedicate part of my future professional life to the digital world: all about 3D, animation, design of characters specially and programming.

The digital figure of Cinella with that 3D finish looks really spectacular. I congratulate you on your great work. It feels like the figure is playing 😍

Nice work! It's good to see another fellow Blender user here. I'm a 3D artist too and also formerly a traditional cartoon animator.

I've been curious about this game for a while but don't have the time to get into it. But I'd also like to make 3D models of the characters and creatures in it.

Is there a site where I can see model sheets of all characters and creatures that I can use as reference?
