Starter pack thoughts and details (non-official)

While we're nearing the starter pack sale and have an official post ready to announce the exact items that are within the "packs", odds of the rarities and various other things. I wanted to take the time to write a little on some of the thoughts behind it, why the price is what it is and other smaller details you may not think of when reading the official post regarding the sale.

Alright so what value is in the starter pack and why should I care to get one?

Firstly, to play the game you will need a creature. Sure we will eventually allow the delegation of creatures (and healers) and potentially change the cost of getting to play to a "healer license" but as a small project just starting out and having made no sale of in-game assets yet this will be a requirement in the beginning. The other requirement is that you have a healer, without a healer you can't control the creature and tell him what to attack and how!

While this is quite a direct "pay 2 play" we believe this is a good deterrence to multi-accounts and bot farms early on until the ecosystem matures and we've put a lot more thought into deterring them in the future as currently most of our focus goes towards getting things launched.

Secondly, healers will need items to play the game properly. This is where the "requirements" start to fade off a little, because technically you could still play with just a healer and a creature but without healing gloves you won't be able to heal your creatures by using your healing abilities. Healing gloves will also come with the starter pack.

Now let's go through everything currently planned for the starter pack before we discuss the idea behind it after.
  • Starter Creature
  • Healing gloves
  • Capture Device
  • Capture Ammo
  • Backpack
  • Mount
  • Empty Alpha Cards
  • Potions & Elixirs
  • Food & Water

Okay, so before we get into why these items exactly, I want to mention that most of these items will be craftable by players in the economy eventually. This means that if you want, you don't have to buy the starter packs to play the game later but in terms of aesthetics these will be limited to the alpha packs while giving players the chance to start playing instantly and efficiently.

Healing gloves will have an "alpha" skin to go with many other items in the starter "pack". They will come in unique rarities with varying stats and last you quite a few levels. Another unique feature of these gloves is that they can be re-used by other healers on your account. Soul-bound NFTs created by @rishi556 on hive-engine are something known to us hive users through @splinterlands and other accounts but quite unique in the space as NFTs are largely tradable freely. The healing gloves, however, will become "account-bound" when equipped on a healer, there's a difference between account-bound and soul-bound in our game, the former allows you to equip items on any healer on your account (but to be able to trade the healer to another account you will have to unequip) and if you have extra healing gloves from other packs you can trade them as long as you don't equip them on a healer. Soul and account-bound items can be salvaged if you really don't want them anymore.

A capture device in @holozing will be something like a gun, it'll be able to shoot a laser beam to attempt to capture a wild creature. The gun requires laser ammo which it uses up on each capture attempt. On top/behind the gun is a card placeholder, this is where the healer inserts and empty card to attempt to capture the creature within. Guns have unique rarities which come with stats, the stat is called Luck which increases your chances to capture the wild creature among other things.

The capture ammo as mentioned has its own rarity and luck stats and can be inserted into the capture device, you can mix and match ammo with the device to try and increase your luck % for your capture rate. Once the ammo is depleted you can't attempt to capture the creature any longer and have to swap the ammo clip for another one.

The backpack allows you to carry items, while it won't have much usage early on in the release of @holozing, it'll be required later when you're out exploring the holo world! There are more use cases planned but too early to mention them at this time. The Alpha backpack stands out from future backpacks aesthetically.

Similarly, the mount won't see much usage early on but there are use cases planned for it other than riding it when discovering the holo world. There will be two unique mounts from the starter pack with different rarities and of course an alpha "theme".

A lot of these items will be soulbound when used which means you won't be able to trade them anymore after usage.

Now we get to the fun stuff for collectors, empty alpha cards. These are some of the assets I've been dying to show the community but I believe it best to wait for the launch of the sale so you get to experience them first-hand! There will be empty alpha cards included in the starter packs, these will have a unique look that can't be crafted by professions in the future and be quite limited. They will differ from each other slightly and some of them will have certain restrictions. I think that's all I'm going to say for now because if I'd were to go into more details I'd be spoiling the surprise. However, the plan is also to allow players to un-bind creatures from cards but not all cards being able to be re-used but with the alpha ones having that possibility.

Potions and Elixirs are items players will be able to use in and off-battle. Potions will as in many previous games give your healer mana but elixirs will give your healer a boost in stats for certain amount of time forward. Do note, however, that these may not always be able to be used in battles against other players and if elixirs are active the "buff" won't be during PvP.

Food and Water, there'll be food for both healers and creatures. Water will allow the healer to regenerate mana faster when resting and food will allow the healer to regenerate healing ability points for the next day. For creatures on the other hand food will regenerate some Health Points when resting and water will regenerate ability points for their moves.

Alright, now that that is done, here's some other thoughts behind the sale.

The alpha packs won't be limited by supply but rather by time which means demand is what determines the supply. The sale may last 3 months, 6 months and maybe even 12 it all depends on how fast we start moving towards the beta sale which is when the alpha one would end. Do note that the beta sale doesn't mean it will start before beta of the game is released but during the beta period.

The packs will be able to generate zing tokens for the holders, a little for unopened packs and more if you've opened them up, these will be called "collection rewards" compared to "delegation rewards" and the other ones we have currently active. Collection rewards will go live shortly after the starter sale. The way they work is by giving collectors points based on what creatures and items they hold as they then compete against each other for the limited supply of zing going out daily similar to the 200k zing for delegation rewards. The rarities of creatures, items, and their stats are what determine how many points they are worth.

With the start of the game and creatures being able to be captured and items discovered this means that a race for points will start as players and collectors will want to maintain the collection zing rewards they are receiving. On top of that, there will be other factors that increase your collection reward points such as soulbound nft achievement and other various in-game stats.

Other unique things concerning the alpha packs aside from the whole theme of items and cards. The 4 starters in these packs won't be completely limited to the alpha pack supply, we don't believe in limiting creatures forever but they will however be much rarer in future packs as those will have different starters mainly appearing. Additionally, the odds of their stat rarities being high will decrease in future packs and something we've not mentioned before is that their odds of mutated starter creatures will drop in other packs as well. Mutated creatures are creatures with slightly different colors from the original.

The odds of receiving a mutated starter will be quite low, the odds of receiving a max-stat starter will be extremely low, the odds of receiving a mutated max-stat starter will be astronomically low and the odds of receiving a mutated max-stats starter creature in a certain card foil will be, well, let's just say we'll be surprised if it happens before the alpha starter sale ends.

Anyway, keep in mind that a lot of what's written here may still change come the official launch of our starter sale but these are most of the ideas behind what the packs will hold. Hope ya'll are excited!

I really like how all of this sounds, Holozing will be a great project that I will personally love (I just know that already).

The collection rewards idea is really cool and it actually incentivizes people to open up packs to get more passive $ZING

I'm definitely going to get myself packs, creatures, healers and everything else needed as well as keep growing Staked ZING.

Keep up the great work and keep us updated :)

I just hope that the collection rewards won't push more ZING into the market. In any case, a lot will change about the game's asset tokenomics as the days unfold and engagement deepen.

It probably will push more zing onto the market to some extend, but I think that the total supply of ZING will stay low enough for it to not be too much of an issue. The most important is to have good and encouraging sinks for the ZING token.

You're right, plus the fact that earning ZING through delegation or as collection reward is received as a stake.

This is really inviting. I see the Holozing game as an embodiment of fun and adventure in all. You've got what to take to effectively market this game into the eyes of every game lover and even make a non-gaming freak want to get involved.

QUESTION:

Will we have some free-to-use/play packs/assets like we have on SPlinterlands for a new user to do a demo trial of the game before buying assets?

IDEA

On the SOul-bound NFT aspect of the game, is it possible to track a player's "time-on-game" alongside the in-game achievements to be used in the minding of SOUL-bound NFTs?

Congratulations on the future of Holozing unveiling!

There will be trial accounts but not early on into the game, potentially end of beta. Those accounts will however not just generate imaginary nfts, it'll consist of cheaply rented creatures and healers off of owners, sure they will not have great stats but people will be able to test the game properly that way and owners will be able to earn some passive income providing the assets.

We won't track time spent ingame itself but other various stats within the game so it won't differ much from time.

Those accounts will however not just generate imaginary nfts, it'll consist of cheaply rented creatures and healers off of owners, sure they will not have great stats but people will be able to test the game properly that way and owners will be able to earn some passive income providing the assets.

Awesome there that those free-to-play accounts will help generate passive income for true owners of the asset. This is really a gaming revolution.

i still remember from hiive punks that most of the rarer punks remained until the last few and people who bought last were the ones who got the most rare ones. the time period idea does make hoarding and capturing a market size harder, but will the rng be good enough that the rarer ones do not stack to a specific period be it early or late?

I don't think that's going to be a thing here unless coincidental, we will be using a seed from hive blocks in the rng equation to prove rarities are created fairly and at the same time that no one within the team can predict or "read" which packs will have rare ones so no foul play can occur from within.

Question: Will each user be able to purchase more than 1 starter pack? What will be the benefit of purchasing and opening multiple packages (besides receiving $ZING)? Thank you

Yes, of course, it's just the discount will only count for the first one.

You'll get the chance to roll another starter creature. Potentially one with better stats. Healing gloves of higher rarity, a better capture device and more + better ammo, more backpacks, mounts, empty cards and consumables. Sure you're not going to be able to "need" all of them but trading will be available to get rid of what you don't want or buy what you want from others who bought packs.

You can also save them unopened in case you think it'll be worth it long term, there's always collectors looking to purchase early packs from popular games out there.

discount will only count for the first one

NOOOOOOOO 😭😭😭😭

I would highly recommend putting a cap on packs. Who knows you might sell a ton and then you start the game out with a mega inflation issue. Limiting packs allows the free market then to determine the price or value of the packs. Restrictions could be for every 10,000 ZING staked you're guaranteed to be able to get 1 pack for the first few days otherwise they drop into the general sale.

Just some thoughts.

For packs we don't think placing a certain supply limit is a good idea because it opens up doors for potential cornering by whales. Like if you knew there will only be 10k packs and happen to be a bored whale from hive or outside buying them all up it wouldn't be a great UX for others having to pay more to get them. This way everyone has a certain amount of time they can purchase and whales looking to corner won't have the same effectiveness. We don't think forcing a cap is good, rather provide value to the packs in other ways related to the game and rarities.

thank you for the well detailed explanation but i just want to clarify,
1 pack consist of all the nft from starter creature to food and water?

Ah good question, should've mentioned it in the post but no some are not guaranteed while some are. So it'll be 5-8 different items with some of them having randomized amounts.

Is there a time frame? I'm having trouble finding the information on the official site where I usually look for it. Is the Starter Pack sale really about to start in January?

We hope so yes, still a few things remaining to be finished. We will notify the start date in the official post on @holozing along with rarity odds and other details.

That's great! Thanks for the quick reply :)

Excited to get started with Holozing.
I look forward to seeing all the features and items included in the package.
It's also great to hear that the price will be determined by demand rather than supply. This means that anyone who wants a starter pack can get one.

I am especially thrilled with the blank alpha cards.
This will be a limited-edition item that will be highly sought after by collectors.
I can't wait to see what they look like!

The collection reward system sounds like a terrific way to encourage players to collect and trade creatures and items.
I'm sure this will add a lot of excitement to the game.

Overall, I think the starter pack is a wonderful idea and I look forward to seeing what it will bring Holozing.

The packs will be able to generate zing tokens for the holders, a little for unopened packs and more if you've opened them up

I absolutely LOVE this decision! In so many other games, I have to decide if I want to give up my passive pack rewards to see what's inside. I want to open them up, but I don't like gambling too much and often wind up holding a bunch of packs.

This is a great compromise. Some collectors will want to speculate on alpha pack prices in the future, so they still get some collection rewards for holding them. But the bigger rewards actually encourage players to play!

This is looking very promising. There are a lot of items and things to consider. With the future of crafting, there are also other paths that players can go to. The game is shaping up to having its own ecosystem, and players are not limited to just fighting. This kind of reminds me of Splinterlands' economy and things to do.

On a different topic, will the creatures have some sort of use limit? Like they grow old and die, or they can only fight 2k battles, etc? Or if there will be rotations of creatures useable, similar to the Modern/Wild in Splinterlands?

They won't have limits nor will they die, but we have some thoughts on tamagotchi'ing things a bit where you have to feed active creatures in your roster or else they go into deep sleep and will need to be "awaken" at a certain cost. Other than that there'll always be an underlying cost to use them properly, ability points run out, their health gets lower which will cost you food and rest or mana to get it back up, etc. Same thing goes for healers and their mana and ability points.

At the same time we don't want to make it too punishing for players who go afk a few days only to come back and have to awaken creatures again so there may be a decent amount of time until they do so and/or you'll be able to use your bot helpers to feed them if they are afk which may cost a little. More on that as we get closer.

That is awesome, thank you for the detailed answer. So there will be a constant stream of things that we need to monitor and replenish. I'm assuming those can be bought with Zing, or any in-game tokens we can earn through playing?

we'll let u know as we get closer to it :D

This is great! But one question, I didn't understand well.... When you buy the starter pack, does it come with the healer? Or do you have to buy the 2 separately?

Love dear family, God bless you ♥

Healer will be sold separately at a later date.

I would be happy to see the creature delegation process soon so that those who own multiple or same creatures can delegate to others for passive earning and on the other hand new or small users also get a chance to taste the game temporarily by using the delegation. Sure for a small and entirely new project its very important to earn money to survive and go long run and also to make an entry barrier for multi accs and bots. So maybe in future? And Cant wait to to see the starter pack sale go live!

Yes for the beta we definitely want the delegation process to be available, tho keep in mind delegating your cards out won't give you collection rewards!

lol 😅 then I would just keep them instead

guess depends if the price is right u could get more zing/hive :D

I guess if the price is good, there's a possibility that the collection reward would also be good on it. But let me just wait for the sale to begin and actually test myself 😇

Interesting about the pack and what it will contain, I could suggest that the things in the pack be sold separately but more expensive so you promote the sale of the pack.

On the other hand I would like to see if possible that you can experiment with the potions mixing them with each other, some mixtures will improve the effect others will slow it down but it will give some fun there.

well the things in the packs will be tradable shortly after so you'll be able to sell or buy whatever you like then!

Excelent

good suggestion on the 2nd one, but I think we'll do something with rarities instead like everything else. Where certain potions restore more mana at a higher rarity or elixirs last longer

That's a nicely resourced bundle to start the game immediately. I really love the game mechanics especially for healers.

BTW, what will estimated cost of pack, so we can put some money aside for starter packs?

It's not 100% yet but most likely $20

Really looking forward to the starter sale, let the hunt for 'certain foiled maxed stats mutated starters' begin!

Do you have an estimate of when the starter sale will begin, as in more accurate than the roadmap? I get it if that's the most accurate you can say for now ^^

ye not yet :D

20$ price per pack seams reasonable knowing what the packs might have inside and it is also a necessity that the game needs to sustain itself since there was no token sales for it.

Thanks for sharing all these details about the starter packs. From what I read, the initial package is very interesting to purchase, since it has several options that will be needed to start the game.

The Alpha Cards look super cool to the player who owns them as they have unique appearances and specific limitations making them exciting for collectors.

In summary for me, these great ideas that are previewing the official presentation are giving the player a very detailed gaming experience rich in elements that promise to enrich the players' immersion in the @holozing world.

As a future player, I am already excited to explore all these mechanics and elements once the sale of the initial packs is launched.

Wow, I am now even more excited. More than enough reason to keep collecting Zing. I'm looking forward to the launch. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for it. Thanks so much for sharing these previews, so we'll have an idea of what surprise awaits us.

This update is big. I am not positioned to get as much discount on the pack sales, I just have to gather some bucks in prep for the sale. I hope we have as long as a month for preparation.

This is getting more interesting each day, I will really need your assistance to buy all this.
HoloZing game, we are waiting for the launch

Hmmm, seems good.
Let's see the sale and see the price, of I'll have to empty my account for it😀✨

This Holozing is getting exciting and fun every day, especially with the new updates. I'm eagerly waiting to see the future of this game. Cheers!

Wow, this is an amazing update, I love the idea of the starter pack, patiently waiting to see how this game goes. I am glad to be a part of this interesting game.

Wow this is very detailed post. You have done well to explain this to my understanding. Thanks so much for this post i fee exited to read it

I guess you must upload tutorial video on how to play the game.
It'll be very helpful to new beginners. After all it is very impactful step towards the pay2Earn way of gaming.

Thanks for the detailed information

Thanks for the update! Certainly lots to look forward in the coming months! :)

While this is quite a direct "pay 2 play" we believe this is a good deterrence to multi-accounts and bot farms

i am agree with this bot and farming literally destroy the game itself. i think i need to adding my zing token from now on then. mine still under 10k zingtoken

I am really interested about the game, maybe I should try it, right?

wow thanks @acidyo iam very happy with this notice. i need my miumiu

This is very good 👍 move for the Holozing family. This is just to let us know that the healer takes full charge of the creatures. I'm hoping for the sale release.

Will it be sold in $ZING token , HIVE or HBD ? Or can we buy it using other crypto ?

hive and hbd but we're also trying to add other crypto

Awesome .. Nice progress

You’re giving me an idea of how $Zing game will look like. I’ve got some of the token staked already and I hope to do more
Thank you for the information

looks pretty AWESOME! 😉👊

Beautiful 😍

This is the first time I've seen the mechanics of the game explained. Sounds pretty cool.

One of the things I like about @splinterlands is the ability to rent out cards. Another thing is guilds. Any plans on the table for similar developments in Holozing?
