D'autres commencent de la même manière mais partent se perdent en arrière plage pour ne jamais revenir. Et puis certaines encore paraissent ne pas avoir eu le temps de remuer le sable des hauts de plages. Les tortues caouanes font ces traces par milliers, par dizaines de milliers chaque année sur les plages du Cap-Vert. Un enfer d'instinct menant à la reproduction, et parfois à la mort soit par perte de l'orientation, soit par le braconnage. Un passage qui ne laissera sa trace que le temps d'une marée... |
What are these tracks? There are hundreds, thousands, that every year appear on the sandy soils of the Cape Verdean beaches, just before the high tides and winds erase them? Some come out of the sea, go up to the top of the beaches leaving sand stirred, and go back towards the first waves. Others start the same way but leave and get lost in the back of the beach never to return. And then some still seem not to have had time to stir the sand of the high beaches. The sea turtles make these traces by the thousands, by the tens of thousands every year on the beaches of Cape Verde. An inferno of instinct leading to reproduction, and sometimes death either by loss of orientation or poaching. A passage that will only leave its mark during a tide... |
