these are larvae Rhizotrogus majalis is a species of beetle that comes from the scarabaeidae family, in some areas Rhizotrogus majalis is known as the ground beetle or beetle, Rhizotrogus majalis has an important role in the soil ecosystem both in the decomposition process and its contribution to soil fertility, Rhizotrogus majalis is very easy to kill. find them in areas with fertile ground vegetation, and luckily I found them in very rotten coconut tree trunks.

The Rhizotrogus majalis beetle has distinctive physical characteristics, its body tends to be stocky and large, with a body length of around 2 cm, its body color also varies, but the one most often found in the area where I live is yellowish brown, their body surface is slightly shiny and their legs are also very strong.

The life cycle of Rhizotrogus majalis begins when the female lays an egg in the soil and then it hatches into a larva like in the photo I shared today. The larva then eats the roots and plant fibers around it. These larvae tend to burrow in the soil and eat plant root tissue. for their growth, during this phase they can cause damage to growing plants, in several cases that I have found in the world of agriculture, some trees died completely due to their population being in very large numbers, but on the other hand, Rhizotrogus majalis larvae are also beneficial if their existence on trees that have died because they break down all the organic material which will be an important nutrient for soil fertility.
