Thank you to all (now 20) who follow my trail at https://hive.vote/dash.php?i=15&id=1&user=birdwatcher and I have a few comments about the return on our votes,
or % of HP of our accounts, which is our investment (our share) in Hive.
I started the trail mainly for upvotes on Nature Observer and other nature and travel related topics.
In my opinion, this way we will be more visible and it will be beneficial for us, especially for small accounts.
When 20 upvotes land somewhere at once, it's more noticeable than when an account with 1000 HP make an upvote alone.
on revenue for example
@arieswilly has approx 1100 HP eg. staked Hive and it is such a nice starting account that is slowly starting to make at least small money on upvotes.
If you look at https://hivestats.io/@arieswilly how he votes you will see that he only gets a reward (usually) if he votes 25% or more (that's usually the votes when he follows my trail).
Note that hivestats.io only has stats to two decimal places, but beyond that it's just "dust".
It has nothing from the 2% of votes it gives out a lot of. That's how low HP accounts works.
His curation APR or annual return on HP is 5.27% and that's not much. I think for such an account it would be worth voting less but with 100%.
On the trail setup that means check: fixed voting weight and put 100% or maybe at least 50%
If you leave Scale voting weight (default) and set 100% you will actually be voting as trail @birdwatcher and I was giving 25% and I will have to give less as we get bigger.
For example @jasonmunapasee has 3,913 HP which is about 3x as much and occasionally gets something at 12.5% which he uses but not always.
New accounts with very low HP like @calvinbayer don't make anything on upvotes yet, but that will change as HP increases.
I think it's a pitty to take Hive to exchanges and sell small dollar amounts when the account has a small HP. Such accounts live only on author rewards and have no passive income.
Yet those who persist eventually get more out of curating than they do out of writing a blog, and that's more than pleasant.
Just let your royalties work.
As a reminder, when setting up a poll, never vote for yourself.
There are a lot of "whales" on Hive that don't like to see that and at the very least you'll miss out on a nice upvote.
