Temporary door solution (2022.11.04)

in Hive Diy2 years ago (edited)

This is a not so big update, but at least it is more than nothing. Today morning my neighbor came, and replaced one of the outer doors to the place of the door of the room. He have the tools and the skills to do this. The lock of the door is not working, so currently it is not possible to properly close the door, but this is already more than nothing. So it is progress.

The end result from inside.

The end result from outside.

The (currently not working) lock of the door. Probably it will be replaced later. Maybe the entire door.

The original place of the door. The collapsed kitchen.

A bucket of tools and a ladder.

The place of the door of the room before the installation of the door. There was only a curtain-like thing in it.

Work in progress. Two boards has been installed above the door because of the size difference.

The previous place of the door.

The windows in the room are still not fixed. They will be fixed later.

I do not know for how long I will live in this house. To be honest, this house is currently in a very bad shape. I fear that the roof will collapse on my head one day. The kitchen is already collapsed. So in addition to lazyness, this is another reason why I often wrote "but" to the useful/helpful suggestions of the Hive community.

It would be very expensive to fix the entire house. And the owner stated (said to me in person) that he will not fix it. He is not going to spend more money on this house.

Currently I am not worried about the winter. I am worried that the house will collapse on me. It is dangerous (literally life-threatening) to live in it. If it will collapse, while I am in it with, then probably I will die with my bird. If it will collapse, when I am away, then probably my bird will die.

I am literally risking my life in this house.

If it will collapse, then probably the other room will collapse first, because it is in much worse situation.

There are holes in the wall. Literally. You can see the garden through them.

This situation is really upsetting, and it is very stressful to live in this house. But no one else is allowing me with my bird in their house. I am still constantly trying to look for a rent.

Have a nice day and have a nice weekend.
All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

Sort:

after you renovate this house already looks pretty good,Even though the place you live in right now is very simple, it's quite better than our brothers and sisters out there, many of whom do not have a home at all.

Nothing is renovated. Just a door moved to another place. From the collapsed kitchen to the room. This house is currently in a very bad shape. Partially collapsed. Hopefully the room will not collapse on me. It would be very expensive to repair this house. The owner stated that he will not repair it. Without maintenance and repairing, it will become more and more dangerous to stay in this partially collapsed house.

Hi friend,

At least you have a door which can stop chilling air inside the house, but I see the house is made up of mud and husk mixture an old timer technology. But, you have a roof in worst condition, I know living inside that is not easy.

I would suggest you find some 50 or 75 mm pipes or wooden columns to support the roof by vertically erecting the columns for extra safety to roof collapse. You may find these items for free at recycling sites or dumping sites.

Wish you a happy Winter and lovely life.

Unless you are moving soon out of this place, you will need to make the structure safe yourself.

There are some basic things you can do and you can use scrap and recycled materials to do it.

Currently I do not have the skills, nor the required money (it would be very expensive) to repair or maintain buildings. Probably soon I will have to move to live in another building.

Probably your best bet then.

I wouldn't spend money on it though.

Really, you get a lot of materials for free. Like I am using in my garden and garage.

Xplosive I must say I love your courage, you see many people will not even try out what you are doing, in life one must be patient and follow things bit by bit before you know you achieve, a little more effort you may get here always be positive life will give it to you

You are right. I am very persistent and obstinate about keeping my Harris's hawk. Most people would have already sold it long ago. Especially under circumstances like this. I do everything to keep it. I love it so much.

Oh man, I'm so sorry it's so dangerous where you live! :( It sucks that people wouldn't let you rent with a bird. What damage do they imagine a bird will do? I hope you find a better place soon!!!
