Tire pollution is a big problem around the globe. Most often, we find it difficult to deal with our used automobile tires. Tire pollution is even worst in countries where tire recycling firms are absent. As such, most people have resorted to abandoning tires with tire repairers who later dump them in waste bins, illegal dumpsites, and waterways, as well as burn them.

Burning tires is the fastest way to release toxic gases in the atmosphere meanwhile dumping tires in the open environment makes it a suitable breeding ground for mosquitoes, pests, and other infectious organisms. Sending used tires to the landfill occupies a lot of landfill space. Tires are really a big problem for nations that don't recycle tires.
This explains why I want to share with you some DIY tips on what you can do with used tires that are very simple and cheap to produce.

Two of these DIYs are my innovations; Mushroom Tire Seats and Tire Erosion Embankments.

1. Mushroom Tire Seats

Instead of throwing away or burning your used tires, you can use them to make Mushroom tire seats for your home or community.
At @thegreens, we call them “Mushroom Tire Seats” because they appear as if they are growing from the ground and have a round mushroom cap.
Making a Mushroom Tire Seat is Simple and very cheap and I will publish a post on how to make them and the benefits of making them in a few hours.

2. Tire Erosion Embankments

Most waterways in our communities are not constructed and constructing waterways to limit erosion is usually very costly. With used tires, you can construct the waterways of your community and plant some beautiful trees and flowers along the banks of the stream, making it more beautiful while stopping erosion.

3. Tire Gardens

Tire gardening is one of the ways to deal with your used tires. Tires are awesome planters and perfect to nurse seeds of plants.

4. Tire Flower Pots

Transforming tires into flower pots and using them to plant flowers around your paved or concreted home makes your place look really beautiful.

5. Living Tire Fence

I tried constructing a fence around my home with tires and guess what, it worked and I even made the fence a living fence by ending the top of each tire with a tire flower pot which I used for planting some spices, lemon grass, pepper, etc.

These are the five main creative items I make from tires. There are many other beautiful things that can be made with tires and all it takes is a creative mind.

I am hereby encouraging you to stop sending tires to the landfill and to stop burning tires.
I will share detailed DIY posts on how you can transform tires into all of the aforementioned products in the days ahead.

Green Peace!

yes recycling and reusing at its finest! 😃 old tires really need to be disposed of properly since they can also become breeding grounds for mosquitoes when stagnant waters get into them, so it's definitely nice to see and propose these types of recreations with tires 😄 thank you for sharing such a great idea!

Sounds like a great idea and will like us to work on this.

I think the Tire Erosion Embankments is the most creative idea of those. All the ideas are great, so I had to share them. (Had to look up what's Erosin as I didn't know the English word for it.)

Some people in my country burn these tires instead of using them for something else. There's also the many "garages" that sell weak (already failing) tires, they're cheap but we learned they're not worth it. It's better they get used for things like in this post!
